LOL! Great plan Mark. Nothing wrong with borrowing gear. Also, it gives you another piece for comparisons' sake. It's great that the Ncore's are coming along so well, and even faster than you expected. Nothing wrong with that!

Holy Cow! I just checked the Hypex site, and my nCore's & Power supplies shipped today! Given the XSP won't be shipping until 10/1, now I need to a) finish the cases, b) get the "brains" installed once they arrive, and c) find an XLR-preamp to borrow to try out my amps before I can get an XSP-1! Arrgghhh....new dilemna!!!! Hmmm....maybe my local Maggie dealer has something I can borrow for a few weeks... Got an XDA-1 lying around anywhere . Mark

LOL, rclark...I bet I will! greenkiwi...given my "issues" w/the 1.7 arrivals, I have a feeling that if my dealer has something I can borrow for a couple weeks - I will be able to get a free solution for a couple weeks. I'll work that once my replacement Maggies are shipped. (grin) Mark Hmmm Why couldnt you of had this problem while at emofest. I had my art cleanbox in the car....

Darn timing...oh well...shipping update: the package cleared customs and is in Louisville, KY right now. That likely means a Monday or Tuesday delivery...Louisville to greater Cinci tomorrow, then out for delivery the next business day.
So...I have to get a little more work on the cases done the next two days in-between helping my scouts with a service project, my daughter's soccer game, and coaching my robotics team.
Then next week will be the final build...!

Package still in Louisville...but, I decided that after our scout service project, I would get the holes in the back plate ready for the binding posts and power in. I am waiting for the amps/power supplies to arrive to cut the holes for the power switches and XLR inputs since the switches and XLR adapters are in the package with the amps! I don't want to cut the holes and find the actual sizes are a bit smaller than I thought!
And, while I was at the scout event, I was only 15 miles from Parts Express...so I went up there and spent $12 to get RCA to XLR adapters. This will get me by until the XSP-1 arrives!

Watching this thread with keen interest Mark. Not sure if you caught my post in the Emofest thread, but I am just over the river in the Union / Independence KY area. I've been considering Maggies for a while.
Can you PM me your Local dealer and let me know if you recommend them from a customer service, overall satisfaction perspective?
Thanks,
Jeremy

They did arrive indeed today! I am about to head out to the barn and drill the last 2 holes in each backplate (1 for XLR in, 1 for power switch). Then, I head to a Boy Scout meeting (must go...am one of the leaders. My committment to youth overrides my own personal priorities!). So, tomorrow, I will position the amp module and power supply in each case, drill the holes, and hopefully do all the wiring. The wiring is pretty easily relative to all I have done to make these custom cases.
I cannot wait to see the glow of the amp module LED's through the smoked glass windows!!!

make sure to give them a good six hours to warm up the first time, then leave them on permanent. They only pull a watt or two.

rclark - do you actually notice a difference with them warming up? I would have thought that they would reach their operating temp within 20-30 minutes tops.

I just auditioned two of my 5 Hypex NCore400 amps tonight at a local audio club. And they were deeply impressed by the control of the Bass and the fine detail of the sound! Mark, you will surely enjoy the Hypex amps. By the way my ordered UMC-1 has already arrived in Europe (Paris). If I'm lucky I might receive it on friday.

GreenKiwi, yes, Lotta people report sort of a break in period, and they do like to be warmed up. They are spectacular out of the box though, it's minor adjustment. But also best to just leave them on for best performance.

rclark & rogersch ... Damn you guys... you'll force me to order one! (well, 2). I guess I'll probably wait to see what mark thinks of them relative to the XPA-2s he's got. Just to have a feeling/benchmark of how it would change my sound.

You've got planars, everyone with planars and Ncores love them. It's like the amp performs a Vulcan mind meld with the panel, out of this world type stuff.
Mark should be here soon, and pretty thrilled.
