Goodnight, all...hopefully that's enough photos to hold people over until tomorrow or Monday. Anyone who complains they want more or that the quality is not good enough owes me a beer...wait, make that a bottle of the finest bourbon available. Mark

Awesome! Thanks for the pics. The XSP-1 is the product I have been wanting to see most of all. It is nice to see such great pics of it, and know that it will be shipping in around a month...long before I will have the funds to pick it up anyway. ;D

Awesome, thanks for all the info Mark, you pretty much provided all the key coverage. You should pull it all together into one large post. *THUMBS UP*
And make an EMOFEST thread on AC and put in all the detailed info and those pics.

Ha I called it! Media Player, I just had the strongest hunch all along. I WILL own that device. Done deal, sign me up. Erc-2 for backup duty. That was definitely the most exciting thing I've seen from the fest.

Please excuse my ignorance here guys, but I am still not sold on the idea of why to buy a media server. Is it to eliminate the need to have a computer as a server? If that is the case, the idea of a media server would be best implemented if it was able to also rip the media to its internal drive (and/or external drives attached to it). Even if it were a proprietary codec for DVDs and BDs (to eliminate piracy), I would still be in. Without the ripping capability, I don't see how owning one would be any more beneficial than an Oppo (and to a lesser extent, the PS3) with an external drive hooked up. The big display (touch screen) built in to allow music navigation without the main display on is what I like - an Oppo does not have that (yet). I'd still have my media stored on a NAS - this should be a pure player with ports for external drives and maybe a single internal one only - an optical drive for ripping/local playback would be cool, but then you are back to BD/oppo territory and you can use any computer anyway. So IMO, keeping it as a pure media streamer (with support for as many codecs as possible) is the way to go. A slick interface allowing easy access is key, e.g. setting custom paths that are direct access from the top menu for example as well as a "fancier" tiled covers display format etc. I'd be very happy to beta test/assist with interface design. But this should really be in the chat thread I think ...

But this should really be in the chat thread I think ... Interesting, but I must admit that I do not know much about media servers, nor do I know what a NAS is. I suppose I can wait until it is released, see what the capabilities are, and how it works...then decide weather or not I need one in my system. I do like the idea of having all of my music and movies at my fingertips, so that is appealing to me. I assume a device such as this would have HDMI, toslink, and digital coax outputs. Run to the XMC-1 via the HDMI and be fully connected to all of your media at once. Additionally, if your able to use the digital coax, and/or toslink outputs simultaneously, then you could run the audio into a high quality DAC for 2 ch playback. Not a bad idea, now that I think about it. I will be looking forward to seeing how this develops, along with all of the other goodies in the pipeline.

See - I did already! Corrected the mistake...should be XPS-1 with XSP-1!!! X-phono-stage vs. X-stereo-preamp (at least that's what it seems the letters stand for!)

LOL! I have a list of 7 follow-up questions I will ask today. Once I have the answers, I'll add that to the big post and re-post it to keep it all together.

Great photos Mark! Looking forward to more photos and report. Well, it is a long weekend so I'll just put on a good CD and lurk on the forum waiting for updates.
Two products I'm waiting for: new DAC and XMC-1. I saw the sign "DAC ... coming soon" so I guess it's not ready yet. But no rush on either product. I just want them working right.
