You recall correctly on the XDA-1's volume control.

You can get away with some digital attenuation, but you don't want to go very low. That being said, its not "that" bad and you could certainly listen to it for a while.

greenkiwi. I agree. I think I am going to just live with it for a while.

Cool. Yeah, I'm going with mine until the XDA-2 or Pro DAC comes out. While it might not be the best it could be, but I'd rather not have an intermediate step in there with something else.

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying your 2.7s. I just love the maggie sound... got hooked early and now I'd have to spend a lot of money on other speakers to get something similar.

Yeah, Magnepan planar speakers are just about the best speakers you'll ever get your hands on, unless you have really deep pockets. I've never regretting getting either my 1.7 mains, or MMGW surrounds for a second. They are really something special, and the upper end Emotiva amps make them shine. Once you get your room treatments right, get ready for amazing clarity, imaging and a very wide sound stage. P.S.> For a center channel, you should probably upgrade to the CC5, use a pair of MMG-W speakers as a center (in series, toed in) or just use a phantom center. I would not recommend pairing the MMG-C center channel speaker with the 1.7 mains, that part is not ideal. www.avguide.com/review/magnepan-s-wall-surround-sound-speaker-system-part-1-tpv-96?page=1

I second tat. In fact, I probably. Would use phantom center until I could get one of th CC center channels or a pair of the mc1s. I found that the whole mmg wall line have very narrow vertical dispersion. You may be able to find older CC speakers at reasonable prices.
