Nice article, thanks, I have read something similar before, this is even more complete. It leaves me with the same impression, that the value of spikes it to hold the cabinet in place allowing the driver to move more air with less distortion.
However if I take the spikes off I think the Subdudes would just fit, and may provide better isolation. I'm concerned about floor resonance and this seems like something that might help, and worth $100 to give it a shot.
Ansat, have you had a chance to measure the overall height? and how much they add to the sub?

Thanks for that link Judd. Well written, and informative article. In my own setup, my B&W towers have stands that attach to the bottom. There are spiked feet (that came in the box) that you can install instead, but I never tried them, as I felt the stands would be more stable.

I saw that, (4) for $156 at Musicians Friend / Guitar Center, or (2) for $96 at Amazon. I only need 2, so unless another local wants 2 I think Amazon for me (tattooDan?).

So I got one of the SubDudes in place, it barely fits, I can just slide a business card between it and the shelf above it.
I ran into an unexpected problem, when I removed the spikes I noticed a forgotten port on the bottom, this meant I couldn't place the subs directly on top of the subdude 'platform'. I thought about turning the subs on their sides, but decided to try the subdude upside down, allowing the port to fire between the two foam feet. I wrote Auralux to see what they thought about that.
Still have to get the second one in place ... tomorrow.

Hay do you guys think they would work even if the subs are on carpet with 1" padding already or would that be redundant , I’m not getting any resonance as it is but thought they could still help nun the less

Not the easiest modification, I know, but may solve your problem. p.s. I got my subdude, and a bunch of speakerdudes, about 2 yrs. ago and they really helped with some buzzing/rattling from the wifes' tsotchkes. Tightened things up noticeably.

I got my subdude, and a bunch of speakerdudes, about 2 yrs. ago and they really helped with some buzzing/rattling from the wifes' tsotchkes. Tightened things up noticeably. Interesting idea, as you know besides the platform there is more foam where the hole would go making it a little messy. I decided to use the subdudes upside down and wrote Auralux about that. At first they recommended leaving the spikes on or taking them off - they didn't understand the clearance issue with spikes, or that without the spikes the port would essentially be sealed. When I explained further (and sent a picture) he checked with the engineers who felt using them upside down would be fine. I've had them in place about a week and do feel it's tightened things up, bass has more definition and melody. I haven't done any high volume music or movie listening yet where my floor resonance problem was most prominent (or so I theorized), so still evaluating. So far though, I think the SubDudes were $100 well spent on my system. Here's how they sit. Attachments:
