I have bought a Power AMP of Emotiva UPA 500, first two days it worked alright with Pre-Amp UMC 1. The third day it used to go on standby showing a fault after 10 minutes i.e. red blinking lights. I removed all the connections from the pre amp but still persisted. I checked the power cord, found perfect. Now without any connections to the AMP, as you switch ON the the halo amber centre round switch it goes on blue and then goes to the fault mode with in seconds. I am in India and finding it difficult to isolate the fault. Any Idea how to go about it.

Take out the speaker wires and try it again. And switch the power cord with the one from the UMC-1.

Just give Emotiva a call and explain the situation. If they are unable to diagnose and fix with tech support, they will give you an RMA # to send it in for repair. Good luck.

Oh man. Since you are in India, shippings going to be tough. It looks to me like it is a problem with the UMC. There's a slim chance it could be the power point that you are plugging it into or a UPS if you are using one. Sorry. If I'm correct, the amps auto detect volage between 110V and 220-240V. India should be 220V. But sometimes the voltage may be dropping badly to between 110 and 220 causing it to go into protect mode. But I would just give emotiva a call or take it to a friends house and see if the same thing happens.

It looks to me like it is a problem with the UMC. It couldn't be the UMC-1 - it was mentioned in the first post that all connections to the preamp were dropped - with the same result. Sounds like a bad amp module. I would imagine shipping is going to be a killer. I have bought a Power AMP of Emotiva UPA 500, first two days it worked alright with Pre-Amp UMC 1.
