Just got mine in the mail last night and all i can say is wow! Having owned the 83 and the 93 this beast was a substantial step above. I have it hooked up hdmi for movies and sacd and via rca for cd to take advantage of the sabre dacs. I tested it last night with Bourne ultimatum and i thought the sound was punchier and more crisp through the 105 and as far as the sound quality for cd, well i put in the audio fidelity gold dylans greatest hits and it sounded incredibly clear and transparent. I am extremely happy. More reports to come as i get more time with it.

I would really like to hear the 105 and Dac-2 and compare them . Anyway Congrats on the 105

The 105 is a great piece, but many people say that the differences between the 103 and 105 are minuscule un less you really, really are nitpicking for music sound quality. The same thing was true for the 93, 95 comparo... The video sections are identical I'm told?
Congrats!!

Well you get a Dac which you can use with something like a Mac mini as I would, and Head Phono amps, I read it's pretty capable amp so for some it's huge step up from the 103.
Congrats on the new player, she a beauty.

I just got mine a few days ago. Now I'm running balanced through the XSP-1 to the XPA-1s. Haven't played anything on it except some Pandora (eek to digital distortion), but am looking forward to some rocking out with it.
I do have a tiny bit of hiss coming through that is more than my other devices hooked up. Seems to change with different menus and is barely audible over my plasma's fans.
Only thing I can think of is to go over my wire management a bit more.

Looking forward to more of your observations on this magnificent piece. I have one in my sights as well, but the family holiday budget takes precedence. Still, this is an interesting piece.
