Movie 8 Video 9 Audio 9
So what we have here is Snow White and Lord of the Rings Return of King all rolled into one. This time Snow White does duty as Frodo, the hobbits are now dwarf's, Aragorn is now the Huntsman, Saruman is replaced by the wicked queen Revenna and there's a coronation to finish the film.
Do these guys know a winning formula when they see it :-)
All in all a very entertaining flick, great production values, good acting and all is well at the end of the story.... Whats better than that?
Recommended.

There was a circular influence here. The Brothers Grimm, who wrote the original Snow White story and other fairy tales in the early 1800's, influenced J.R.R. Tolkien, who wrote the Lord of the Rings in the late 1930's to the 40's, who in turn influenced the screen play writers for Snow White and the Huntsman. This story with its darkness is much closer to what the Brother's Grimm story envisioned. The 1937 Disney version was very sanitized for young children and their parents.
I greatly enjoyed this latest movie incarnation and brought it for my daughter.
This movie was available yesterday in Blu-ray for $7.99. It may come back down for Cyber Monday.

Charlize Theron! I absolutely hated her in this film...... But wasn't that the point?

I agree with everything, except the "good acting" part. :-) Kristin Stewart does her little pouty, doe-ey eyed routine the whole time. Charlize Theron is good for most of the movie, but then seems to revert to an over the top, "look how evil" I am formula near the end.
Other than that, highly enjoyable and a good flick/story overall.

To be honest, the thing about Kristen Stewart is how she went from being locked in a watchtower at 8-9 years old for a dozen years - only to emerge and seemingly overnight turn into Red Sonja.....

People had more get up and go back in those days! It is plausible because you have to remember that a nine year old back then was more practically equipped to deal with life than a person twice their age today. People grew up a lot faster in yesteryear. I used to hear a lot from my 90 year old grandmother telling me what she had to do as a child living in pre-World War 1 Europe. That is why I believe the voting age should be raised to 30! That would be the modern day equivalence to 18 of yesteryear. Members of all the armed forces would be exempt from that restriction due to their service of course!
