Hi all, thanks for all your comments.
Seating - I have put that off. I have not found anything I like. It does beg for a center seat. The recliners are a hold over from the original theater. They are not “theater” chairs. I originally thought a raised second row. I raised the last 8 feet of floor, but when the 3.5’s found their home back there, it made a second row very tight.
I’ve looked at Fortress Seating. They can build to your specifications and have a lot of neat motorized accessories. I just need to devote time to the seating problem.
The local dealer is pushing the Marantz AV8801. My Integra is several generations old, so maybe I can splurge on a new one. Does Emotiva have an 11.2 processor in their future?
The Denon looks impressive. I took a quick look just now. I will definitely have to look closer. Thanks.

My Pleasure, I am a Denon Fan. I am currently using a 5700 that is 10+ yrs old. and it's impressively impressive (bending the grammar here a bit). This Particular Denon is just the cream of the crop, and the warmth of the Denon Sound with it's impressive pkg is just unbeatable. Good luck buddy

the ELF-1 has developed a mechanical buzz. I sent it in to Bag End and they sent it back as "all in spec". I tried different circuits and still buzzes. It buzzes even at the Dealer's store. AC conditioning did not affect it. Hmm, a mechanical buzz in the ELF-1 unit itself? No moving parts... likely something in the power supply. Have you tried powering it from a different circuit? Also as I recall the power supply transformer in those is a rather small standard laminate core. Might be defective - but likely it could be replaced fairly inexpensively. But it's been a long time since I had one of those open in front of me so I can't tell you the specs...

You have definitely taken Magnepan ownership to another level!!! The important question is how does it all sound, please tell us?

There is discussion of Emo producing the RMC-1 processor though it's likely some time off, and the current speculation is 9.2. I think the AV8801 looks very nice!

Good luck buddy My first Denon which turned my world upside down was the 5600, what beast but at the time I purchased it did not have plain vanilla dts, there were a few mods to get dts capability. Then Denon introduced some sort of upgrade, but it was wiser to just get the Mighty 5700. I gotta agree the warmth out those early Flag ships were simply fantastic. Dan

The Denon warmth from there older processors was incredible. My old 4802 sounded great. I just purchased a Marantz AV7005 and it sounds a lot like the old Denon sound.
If I were you I would take a serious look into the Marantz AV8801. If it sounds half as well as the 8003 it will be a winner. A little on the high side (money wise) but worth it.

You have definitely taken Magnepan ownership to another level!!! The important question is how does it all sound, please tell us? Magnepan has an updated picture of my system on their website, on their Tri-Center page. Maybe I am easy to please, and it is obvious I am not impartial, but it sounds amazing. When expanding 5.1 source or even 2.0 source to 9.2 the processor does an excellent job of creating the sound for the extra channels. If I listen to only one pair at a time, the sound is not very remarkable. You can definitely hear the results of the processor trying to recreate the sound for the extra channels going from 2.0 to 9.0. It is when all channels are playing that the sum of all speakers creates a remarkable experience. An interesting effect happened when I was listening to cable’s Music Choice which is 2.0 . I was in Audyssey DSX PLIIx mode (9.0) and the theme song from MASH came on. The opening starts with a helicopter and then the music fades in. The helicopter sound clear and distinctly started with the back surrounds and literally flew over my head transitioning to the front speakers – from a 2.0 source. It startled me. Because all the speakers are closely matched, there was a seamless transition back to front. The surrounds (wide, side, back) work together to produce and enveloping sound field while still retaining musical detail. Movie sound tracks are fun when the engineers are not afraid to use the surround channels. Another example is Avatar on BluRay, the scene where the actors first venture into the jungle. You can follow the sound of the “lemur” type creatures as they jump through the trees. The sound moves around you. The hair on the back of my neck stood up the first time I heard it.

At first I thought the size of the speakers would make their sonic presence obvious, particularly the wide and side speakers on the side where you sit because you are physically closer to them. I think it is more of a mental effect. With no lights on the speakers, those six foot speakers nearly disappear. Sometimes though, the experience includes seeing all those monoliths surrounding you. However, when listening in stereo mode with the 20.7’s (front left/right), I do notice the shift of sound to the side I am sitting on. Some music is more obvious than others. This is probably because the 20.7’s are about 11 feet apart and the center of the listening area is about 13 feet from the speakers and such positioning does not produce the optimum stereo imaging. A compromise because of the width of the screen forces the 20.7’s out that wide (and I do not have a center seat). Here is a picture with wall lighting and no direct lighting on the speakers. All corners have GIK Tri-traps. Two, four foot sections, stacked. There is a gap at the top that begs for me to do something with. In addition there are GIK 244 bass traps behind the Side and Wide surrounds. I need better seating.

I’ve realized for a while that my home theater will never be done (I hope never). I previewed the MG20.7’s in an earlier post, but here is the whole theater. As for now, it is technically 9.2. My processor cannot run simultaneous Height and Wides, although I have the speakers and amps to run both at the same time. I am looking for an 11.2 (or greater) processor to replace my Integra DHC-80.1. Front view as it currently stands: Front consists of: Main left/right: Magnepan MG20.7’s driven by Krell 400e monoblocks. Waiting to hear what XPR-1’s can do. Center: Tri-center consisting of CCR, MMC2’s and a pair of Bag End subwoofers. Each driven by their own XPA-1. Height: MGSS1’s driven by XPA-1’s. They are suspended from the ceiling above the 20.7’s. To be replaced by MMC2’s. Wide: MG3.7’s driven by XPA-1’s. The wide angle lens distorts their position. LFE: Two JL Audio F112 subs. Processors: Integra DHC-80.1 and an XSP-1 (just added). Screen: Carada 2.40, 140” diagonal. Room is 18’ wide, 24’ long, 9’7” high (9’ in the back do to raised floor) I know this is an old thread but I wonder what happened to this guy and his crazy HT set up...

I am impressed. With a system as impressive as yours I would loose the Bags and stay with multiple F112s
