Hiya, does anyone know the details for all fuses in the XPA-2. I would like to upgrade them with hifi tuning ones and can't find the info anywhere.
I would like to see where the currents take me.
Thanks for yo help, Buzz.

Thanks for yo help, Buzz. I think you can use a nickel or a dime, but you have to be careful with how you wedge it in there to ensure maximum performance. Dimes sound better. Those gold dollar coins are supposed to the ultimate, but they're hard to find now.

I use the Sacagawea dollar sometimes. It brings more of the "native" sound out of the music

Alright dork know it alls! I suppose 'wire' doesnt make any difference either!
I HAVE used the HiFi tuning fuses, and I do have them in my XPA-2 (all 4 of them). Is it a HUGE difference. No. Does it make SOME difference. I think so. I also replaced my fuse in my Transporter with the same. It seems a larger difference there. Do these kind of 'tweaks' make a difference. It seems to me, and also from others who have reviewed them, that they do. I will admit, there is a limit to what I am willing to pay for a tweak, and just how far 'out there' conceptually it is.
I used to be a skeptic about wire. No more. I found that out for myself. Just as others may need to do before making bold judgements.

it just not possible for a fuse to make a difference. Either it works or it does not.... ie good or blown

I used to be a skeptic about wire. No more. I found that out for myself. Just as others may need to do before making bold judgements. There are actually 7 fuses in the XPA2. Under the top panel there are (2) 1 amp 250v, and (2) 500ma 250v, under the bottom panel are (2) 10 amp 250v and (1) 250ma 250v; all being 5X20mm in size and slo-blo. Likely, changing out just the bottom, more critical, 3 fuses to higher quality sand filled ceramic will make a small sonic improvement. The new Synergistic Research fuses currently are more favorable than HiFi Tuning fuses. Cheers, HTinP

Nice that someone could do the courtesy of answering the OPs question. It's a challenge to answer a question where the answer is "snake oil, snake oil, or snake oil". I'm sorry, but I can't take changing fuses seriously........ If you have money to burn, go for the liquid filled magic fuses - but I'd do that only after you get bored with setting fire to your cash for fun. How about these? www.audio-magic.com/Prod-NanoFuse.html They promise "About a 30% improvement from the original -- including shimmering highs, glorious midrange, tighter and deeper bass, and incredible sound!!" If you need to know the rating of the amps, it should be printed on the fuses themselves, otherwise your best bet is to call Emotiva and ask what they are rating at.

Thanks to those with constructive advice, to the others, thanks for showing me your mettle. We're happy to help. Speaking of that, want my fuses? They're all broken in.. and warmed up...... They sound way better than virgin fuses that haven't been used yet.

My take on this is simple: if these "magic" fuses *really* improved the sound why don't ANY of the top-line mfgrs. (Krell, Levinson, Classe, etc.) use them in their products? If simply placing a $40 fuse into a $10,000 amp would improve the sound, don't you think that these mfrgs. would do so?
And if you'd like corroboration of this, simply call or write to these companies and ask them what they think about "audiophile" fuses. I'm pretty sure I know what their answer will be...

Think about it Its all placebo effect that's happening here. There is no way anyone can or will prove otherwise.

It's called faith based audio, pure and simple.
"I think I hear a difference!" but... why don't the measurements show any difference???
