Yeah, I used many RCA cables from Monoprice that work fine. I'm one of guys who buy the cheapest cables and don't believe that called make a difference, other than noise rejection. But after that experience, I won't use them for hookup to amps. It burned out my pre out board, and nearly blew my Paradigm C3. Risking a thousand dollars in equipment to save less than 100 is not worth it for me in this case.
The BJC stuff also doesn't grab on to the RCA jack super hard like the Monoprice cables and are super flexible. This made for easier installation and cable management. However, as with any properly shielded cable, there was no difference in sound quality between the two.
You shouldn't have a problem with the Monoprice cables.

Based on my experience XLR to XLR is a good idea if you have a long cable run, maybe more then 5 metres. For a short run, say less than 5 metres, I can't say as I can detect any difference between RCA to RCA and XLR to XLR. To me XLR to RCA logically seems to offer no benefit, so I have never tested it.
Congrats on the XPA-5 acquisition, I know you will enjoy it. I have just returned to the XPA-5 fold (a new one arrived from Emotiva last Monday) as I needed to drastically reduce the space consumption. A USP-1, UMC-1, Denon AVR, XPA-2 and XPA-3 was simply taking up too much. The XPA-5 is so good that, as expected, I was hard pressed to find any difference between it and the XPA-2/XPA-3 combination, even in stereo mode. The next step is a UMC-200 to replace the UMC-1 which already has a new owner. Then the Denon AVR can move to the family room. The system will then be much simpler at less than half the space with just the USP-1, UMC-200 and XPA-5 (plus sources of course).
Happy New Year Gary

I am looking forward to the amp. I just wish I knew more about how to properly setup my HT, just not that smart when it comes to figuring out my receiver. I think once I make my flexi rack to house my center channel that pairs with my B&W 703 towers, it will sound much better. THanks for all of the help and I know I will use you guys for assistance lol.
