Has anyone had experience using the balanced input on the XPA-2? I just recently went to balanced from my Gungnir, using the Transporter as a digital preamp. I'm blown away how good it sounds!
Just wondered if anyone else noticed a big sonic difference between single ended and balanced.

I have tried it with my XDA-1. I didn't notice any improvement in SQ but that could come down to the lossy volume in the XDA-1.
I now use RCA but added the USP-1 to the mix. Now that does improve the SQ, much more than I was expecting.
Maybe I will try the XLR inputs again when I get my hands on an XMC-1.
Dave.

Umm, the XPA2 isn't a fully balanced amp. It just has the inputs in case you have the cables. 'still a great amp though.
Any difference you hear is due to your source...

I noticed a substantial increase in volume when I connected mine with XLR. Maybe that's what you're noticing?

Thanks guys - I guess it must be the Gungnir. I have been asking around to see if others have found the same. I really didnt expect any real difference. I bought the Blue Jeans XLR's pretty cheap as well.

Even if it isn't fully balanced, it still has balanced inputs which will mean that any noise on the interconnects in cancelled out so there will be a difference.

Right, the common mode noise rejection. I didnt really think that a cheap balanced cable would, in and of itself, sound as good as my high end single ended cables.
