Hi guys,
Question for you all. When I am listening to stereo on the UMC-200 I noticed that my subwoofer is not receiving any base. My crossovers are at 80 on my mains and 110 on my woofer. It works fine when I have a 5.1 DD source. Could there be a setting that I am missing, is this a bug, or is this intended operation?
*not sure what changed but it now works correctly, my guess is I made a mistake and chose a bad test song

Did you look in the manual?

Check you settings for stereo output. Next, are you selecting "Direct" input for? If you are, no post processing is taking place. Remember, you will not have any output from your sub woofer when using "Direct"... only the FL and FR speakers will be fed a signal.

Yes it's not in direct mode, it is in stereo. I will double check but I don't remember the manual mentioning anything about stereo mode.
After doing a quick scan through the manual, it appears not to mention anything about how the stereo mode is suppose to work. If no one knows I will check with emotiva after Christmas.

I also have observed the same issue. No subwoofer while listening to 2 channel stereo.

When I had my UMC-1 and I used the 7.1 analog inputs(which are automatically in direct mode), I would get output from my sub but I had my Oppo set to small with a 80hz crossover. When using hdmi input on the UMC-1 with a stereo source, I would also get output from my sub whether I used direct or stereo mode. I am currently waiting on my UMC-200 and I hope the stereo mode is not an issue like the OP mentioned. I assume the OP checked his crossover settings in the UMC-200 when using stereo mode.

Are you sure you got sub output with the UMC-1 set to direct with a two channel source?

Are you sure you got sub output with the UMC-1 set to direct with a two channel source? I may be wrong about getting sub output in direct mode with a two channel source. I am probably thinking about a 5.1 source like sacd or dvd audio or when I use stereo mode for regular 2 channel cds. Thanks for correcting me.

Yeah, in that case you would get the .1 on the LFE channel.

Not sure what changed but I can comfirm that now stereo does result in 2.1 sound. I am not sure what changed, or maybe I made a mistake in the beginning but it does work.

I still have no subwoofer. I checked with my Mac Mini and no dice, hooked up my ERC2 both with Coaxial and Toslink. Playing both in DIRECT mode results in ZERO subwoofer. Switching to stereo remains the same except that it now "dulls" the sound so to speak. Everything gets darker and more muddy / bass-y when in Stereo. I am really having terrible luck with this thing. It sounds horrible with my ERC2 and I can't get subwoofer active with anything other than my PS3 when playing movies or games,... Whats up?

I noticed something similar after switching from stereo to direct and then back again. My work around was to go into system set up and turn off and back on the subwoofer. I know this is not a fix but it did regain the subwoofer output in stereo mode. I hope this helps.

reaper, you will get no sub in direct mode. Are you using EQ in stereo? What are your crossover settings? Are you using emo-q settings or have you checked levels your self with an spl meter?

I have been observing the same behavior. The only workaround I've found so far is to turn on Enhanced Bass in setup

Perhaps for some users, the auto turn on circuit on the subwoofer is set too low? Might require an adjustment of the LFE level on the preamp or the gain on the sub? Just a guess.
