Hi: I've just gotten re-acquainted with some Emotiva stuff I bought before going through a serious illness and I have a question about remote controlling the XDA-1 that I'm using as a 2-channel dac/pre, along with 2 XPA-2 as power amps. I have audio from a Motorola HD DVR(Charter Cable), and a Panasonic BD-50 Blu-Ray going into it, and I love it the sound!
The Universal Branded remote (Charter OCAP-4 Device) controls the functions of the DVR and BD perfectly, AND will also control basic functions on an older HK A/V receiver I tested, just to see if it worked... I just found the codes from the hundreds listed for different manufacturers and entered them.
My "Noob" question is this: why can't I find a simple code to enter into the remote to control the volume on my XDA-1? It would be most excellent to turn the volume of the XDA-1 up or down with the cable dvr remote!
I've read about using hex code and programming, but this remote hasn't the capability for that. Thanks in advance.

While many XDA-1 owners set the volume at max (80) and control the volume of the system through their AVR or Pre/Pro, I can see where having volume control at the DAC could be useful.
The "simple code" may not be published in your Charter manual. You could contact Emotiva to see if they have information you can use.
One other method to consider. Is your remote a learning remote? Do you have a separate function button that is not being used that could represent the DAC? If so, you may also be able to control the DAC volume and possibly the input switching.
Good luck!
