:Oh what a bad day. So I went upstairs while the wife got ready to go. Threw some SRV on the system. Three songs in the volume just cranked itself up so loud I ran over and yanked the xpa2 plug and pulled the ipod off the dock. Now the tweeters seem fried. I just went back up after taking a break and rehooked it up. Sounds awful. Covered the tweets with my hand and no sound difference. Im so pissed. Don’t know if the tweeters fried or maybe the crossover? And its both speakers. I doubt its the amp, could be the preamp. Who knows? Ugh! Glad I have that 12 pack I am going to switch speakers this week and see what I hear. If its my speakers im going to upgrade the the drivers and crossover Ka-ching!

I don't think it was your XPA-2 (amp) that fried your speakers, I believe it is whatever is controlling your volume. If you don't fix that, then this will happen again.

What volume was the audio on the iPod when you started playing. If it was reasonably low then you turned the pre up to compensate. It looks like the i20 has a remote vol control that perhaps got pushed accidentlly.

the i20 remote was in another room. i moved my system for the holidays so didnt have a full setup. as long as its not my amp im ok. the tweeters can be replaced. my wife was with me and even she was like what the hell was that? i dont know what happened but i dont trust that preamp. i had it hooked up to an AVR as an external amp for over a year and never an issue. it could have been the ipod too.
