Any chance or rumors of a XPA-300 being produced? A solid 125 wpc for my center and surrounds would be perfect.

There have been no announcements for this product (or if it is indeed a product!) thus far from Emotiva.

Thing is that this amount of power isn't perceived as enough of an upgrade for an AVR. Though it would be ofcourse, since many AVR's are only 75 Watts all channels drivven. And if your speakers are sensitive enough, say 95 dB @ 1 meter, then yes, 125 Watts would be plenty.

The only problem with this argument is the existance of the UPA-200, UPA-500 and UPA-700. 125w, 80w and 80w respectively. ...

But none of those are three channels. A UPA-3 based on the other UPA amps with 125wpc would be nice. Maybe an XPA-300 with 150wpc would sell better.

I would like 125-150wpc. Just not convinced yet that the upa-500, even only running 3 channels would have enough power/headroom.

For a long time on this forum I kept hearing that Emotiva would not put out lower powered amps since they would not seem any more powerful than those found in an AVR. Also stated more than a few times was the relative proximity to the XPA line by the UPA-5/-7 amps. I understand that they aren't trying to market these new UPA amps to AVR users any longer.
I think an audio rack with the UMC-200 and a UPA-200 and UPA-300 makes perfect sense. Not everyone wants or needs the power the XPA line has but feels more comfortable with a few more watts than the current UPA-500/700 deliver. And if some are like me and simply dislike the idea of having a few amp channels idling away while using only two of them that UPA-300 begins to make more sense for those like myself who will probably never add to the 5.1 I now have.
And while I'm at it - how about some pro amps like the Crown amp I have? Whats not to like with an 11 pound amp that puts out 575wpc into 4ohms?

A 2RU high 3 channel amp would be perfect for my center & surrounds.

Maybe the audio rack is in the back of the room and only the XPA-300 would be near the LCR speakers, tucked away somewhere (but ventilated). XLR between UMC-500 and amps would be a good thing then.

The price difference between the UPA-200 and 500 is so minimal that I think there is little point in an xpa-300. At least, not for me. Maybe an XPA-500 would fill a good niche as an XPA-5 is pretty expensive.

I just don't think 80 watts is enough for my center since I currently have 200wpc across my LCR. I would like to move the UPA-1 back downstairs with its sister. I guess I am in the market for a XPA-3. This way I can move to the Umc-200 or 500. Anyone got want a Upa-2 + cash for XPA-3?

Just to throw it out there I have been playing with a upa-500 all weekend and the SQ of this unit is fantastic. I have been comparing it with the amps in the denon 3311 and my jbl ava7 which is a lexicon gx7 clone and it held its own. I prefer it over the denons amps and it can hold its own with the jbl till some REALLY loud listening. Now this is with 6 inch inwalls crossed over at 80hz so you polks my be a little different story but with Emos 30 return policy I would give it a try. I really think if Emotiva had been able to tweek it so this amp would do 100 watts ACD it would be getting a little more street cred. It reminds me alot ot my Outlaw 1050 back in the day that didnt put out crazy watts but just sounded better then alot of other higher powered receivers.

Also, usually the surrounds don't absorb as much power so in practical terms it probably is doing 100 watts for the fronts.

Just using 3 channels of the UPA-5 should be enough for the center and surrounds, even at the rare times i let my system breathe ;D

Take the case and power supply of the UPA-700, add some more secondary capacitance and the XLR outputs, done! Maybe something to spice up the arrival of the UMC-500...

the upa series is designed as entry level amps...
I find 80 watts would fine in small rooms

It would take zero effort for emotiva as they already had released a UPA-5 (not 500) some time ago. Well I guess they need to add on some XLR inputs to keep it more in line with the XPA-X00 series.
