Hey there, I have a boatload of these little beauties! The first time I saw them in person, I wanted them. I had previously purchased some XRM 6.1s and was very happy with that purchase (listening to them right now and I still am happy!) so I bought a pair of the 4.1s to get started on my daughter's college system. The little speaker's proportions and size are such that people are attracted to them. It is some subtlety of the size ratios I think, but if you see a pair, you will know what I mean.
These have the same wonderful, extended, silk tweeter that the rest of the line does. Putting them in all my surround sound system has transformed the experience. The tweeter is just killer. There is not much bass included in these little gems, but it does not detract from the music. We have my daughter's in her room driven by a nice old Marantz Quad amp and they do not have the bass of the Infinity 5 inch woofer models they replace, but they sound so much better overall that it is a good trade up.
As surrounds, I was able to buy them because my wife saw how tiny they are. I have them mounted on the walls for 7.1 surround and since they match my L R and center speakers, they just kicked my surround over the top. With my sub-woofer set at 60, I get enough bass from the 4.1s to get by. They do not sound dinky by any means! If I had a processor that would let me, I would set their crossover at around 80 or 100 after some experimentation.
Despite my obvious rave, you can buy these, try these, and send them back if they do not suit you. But if you try them, I bet you don't!
