I am sure that this has been asked or discussed but I am not sure where to look.
If anyone has gone from XPA-2 to XPA-1 and kept all other equipment the same remark on the sonic or clearly audible differences?

I cant speak for the XPA-2 to XPA-1 upgrade, but I did come from an XPA-5 to XPA-1's for my N802's. There was a noticeable improvement.

I didn't directly compare the XPA-2 to the XPA-1's. My comparison was based on memory, from one day to the other. The day I got my XPA-1's it was such a hassle moving things around in the rack (bringing the XPA-1's in, then taking out the XPA-2 and boxing it up, moving the XPA-3 to a different shelf then putting the XPA-1's in the rack and finally moving the XPA-2 out of the room) that I didn't bother trying to do any side by side comparison.
My impressions from memory were that the XPA-1's seemed more "effortless" and bass was stronger. However, that could very well be the placebo effect for seeming more effortless since at that time the amps were driving Mirage OMD 15's which are not that difficult but I did feel like the bass was more solid with the XPA-1's. Not a huge difference but that's what stuck out in my mind.

Thanks so much. I was mulling over the two XPA-1's in the Emporium but with the bridged XPA-2's I have so much power. The specs on the XPA-1 are nice but I think I will keep what I got. I hear you on the moving gear around as I have a built-in that has just enough space for my needs and it is a real hassle to switch components. Thanks for your replies and have a good weekend~

I own a pair of XPA-1's and an XPA-2 and they both sound great. My XPA-1's are driving a very inefficient and low impedance pair of Thiel 3.6's so they can actually make use of the extra power the XPA-1's can deliver.
Other than the added power, which you may or may not need, they sound very much the same.
I saw you say you are using a pair of XPA-2's in bridged mode. The advantage to having a single XPA-1 in place of a pair of bridged XPA-2's is the ability to drive a low impedance load without encountering any problems. The pair of XPA-2's does give you more flexibility in amp use though.
