I went to measure the width of a component with a tape measure and pop everything went quiet. I shut all the components off and turned back on again volume back. I wanted to make sure that what just happened was because of the metal tape measure, so you guessed it pop no sound. Turned off all components re turned them on and sound phew. won't try that again. what happened? the. box i touched was outputting to the xsp 1.

Mine does the same thing. I was plugging in my PS3 controller and i heard a static spark from the usb cable. The sound went away immediately. Weird thing is, the static was directed at the PS3 but must have made it's way to the XSP-1. I can recreate the situation and the sound goes away. I power off and the sound comes back. This is my second XSP-1, the first one, the sound never came back but i don't know for sure if it was static that made it never come back. I don't like that it kicks off so easy

Yeah what you said. Do you think it overloaded the input stage of xsp1 and went into a protection mode of some sort?

This is a really BAD time of year to be shuffling across the carpet and touching electronics. Just use a remote control until about May.

I always touch the metal bars on my rack first before touching my system , that usually discharges any static I've built up
