So I've finally ventured into the HDCD world. Lo & behold, my Oppo will play the discs, but I don't play discs anymore. Instead, I typically rip music to my iTunes library & stash the original discs in the attic.
When I put the HDCDs into my Intel Macbook to rip, however, the drive doesn't recognize the discs at all - If I can't play, I can't rip.
Is this an artifact of my (older) Macbook's internal drive? Will a newer Mac read & rip HDCDs? Will my (preferred) AIFF format automatically down-sample the HDCD to "blue book standard" CD format (that's not what I want)?
Experience is appreciated. I Googled this and got conflicting info.

Jriver looks like it will be coming to the Mac some time soon. I'm very hopeful that it will be a good experience and have more ripping support.

I ripped HDCDs through windows media player.
I don't know much about Apple but several who have them, told me they run windows on their macs.
Maybe you could get around it that way somehow. Sorry, I can't help more.
