I would guess they are talking like if it can have an IP address or MAC address. like a computer or anything that goes on the internet.
Thats my guess but I could be wrong

Johnno My guess is what they are doing is trying to classify what duty category they fall into. If so "addressable" would be IT Equipment. "not addressable" would be "Electronic Equipment". My suggestion would be to have a talk to the Fedex customs clearance department and ask them what they suggest? Cheers Gary

Thanks for the replies, Customs made their decision ,not addressable ,so I had to pay duties and GST...I will ship stuff separate in future....

So does that mean an XMC-1 won't have duties because it will be addressable?

In Australia any private import less than $1000 is not subject to duties or GST.
Go over this and expect to pay somewhere around $50 duty and 10% GST.
Dave.

G'day guys, I bought XPA 5 and 2x XPA 1's, but they got shipped together, emo gave me a great discount on the XPA 1's because they did'nt have the XPA 2, since this was sent as one package I had to pay $500 in duties and GST... But It's cool , I was stoked with discount ,so still in front...

An XMC-1 with 40% discount is going to be $899, so under $1K. Cheers Gary

I got a USP 1 a little while back , might have to upgrade to XSP 1 in not to distant future I've had a USP-1 for some time and I really can't see myself ever needing (or wanting) anything better. I have a UMC-200 on order as I have sold my UMC-1 and I'm not willing to wait for the XMC-1. Cheers Gary

Gary, I'm quite new to separates and feeling my way through..I thought my old system was pretty good and had it a long time , old Cerwin Vega speakers and old Marantz amp ,tape deck ,phono set-up , then started to think about a new system about five years back , what I heard in Hi-Fi stores blew me away ,then I realised what I had been missing out on and progressed from there...

Last time I got caught by customs (importing computer parts) I had to register as an importer, send them a copy of my drivers license and work out the importation codes myself, it was a real hastle. Get them wrong and there are big fines for avoidance. Which is why they tell you to use an importer/specialist to ensure the codes are correct. All the info is buried in pdf's on their site. With a mixed importation it can be messy, especially if some parts are part of an assembly.

Of course the amps are addressable. XPA-5 is "Sir Amp" and XPR5 is "Lord Amp". ;D

Anything I order into Canada has duty, 12% tax and customs/border fees.....it' can get crazy and it doesn't matter if it's $20 or $2000, it sucks lol, my Ultra10 sub I bought during the warehouse sale almost dbl in price by the time it arrived at my door....

I once learned that shipping to Canada using USPS avoids all the bullshit customs fees charged by FedEx and UPS.

I once learned that shipping to Canada using USPS avoids all the bullshit customs fees charged by FedEx and UPS. It depends, sometimes they will charge you duty and then others they won't ...it's weird, when I purchased my UPA-1's and had them sent tot he border they only charged me tax when I brought them in and the original XDA-1 that my mom brought back for me when she was coming back from the U.S and he didn't charge her anything lol. But yeah mostly get dinged when having it shipped across. My buddy just drove down to the U.S to grab his XRT 6.2's, XRC 5.2, UAC-8.2, box of cables and my XPA-5 and they only charged him tax and no duty...? it all depends on the border officer lol.

never usps to ship amps, no tracking and busted packages...
tracking usps out the states is next to non-existant...
fedex on frieght is the middle of the bunch when it comes to freight charges from the states to australia, with AUD being higher than the USD at present you may see a price discount across the board..
i'm pretty sure in we go a 10% tax on a money scale like 0-999, 1,000-1499.. with the aud worth than the USD you may save 40-150 off a 1,500-2,000 usd product and 30 on freight...
