I picked up a Mini-x too. I'm using it in my back room setup with an old Onkyo preamp and a Phillips 312 turntable. I like the closeness of the setup since the TT is at my right side - lift the dust cover flip the LP and drive on for another 30-45 minutes! I'm not lazy but it is handy to have the TT so close. I can also play CDs. The Mini-x is quite the amp. I'm impressed with it. phillips 312? i had the 212 many years ago. loved that table. tchaik..... I remember the 212 very well. I had one myself. The platter was suspended by magnetic repulsion.

It is not fair when you see your parcels on holidays in Hawaii. I wonder which way my parcel will come, never had tracking from China before. China ouch, mine's coming from USA, left Memphis an hour ago, only ~20 more hours in the silver bird. Touchbdown in Australia on Saturday, cleared Customs on Sunday, on the Fedex truck this morning, should have it this afternoon. Plug in and fire it up tonight, can't wait to compare a UMC-200 with my previous UMC-1 ;D Cheers Gary

Received my UMC-200 plugged it in and it's non functioning, DOA. Which is strange considering it was factory checked before it was sent out. I spoke to Techical and they are sending me out a new main board ASAP. No questions asked, that's the sort of customer service we all hope for but seldom receive.
Cheers Gary

While you are waiting you should check the internal wiring and possibly reseat it, you are going to have to open it up anyway

Cheers Gary Gary, Are you sure it was fully tested prior to shipping? I have had the same experience when I was working out of the country. For some reason they didn't test it (fully) prior to shipping. One of those "OOPS" moments for Emo and it happened twice to me. The life in the Air Force...ol I hve noticed when they get busy or rush something, some things slip in their QA processes. CH

Maybe with shipping to Australia a connector worked its way loose. Bet you that a quick inspection inside would yield a fix.

Maybe with shipping to Australia a connector worked its way loose. Bet you that a quick inspection inside would yield a fix. Over the years I've had that happen on three occasions especially with connectors, once with a pair of Monitor-Audio speakers cable came undone, then a jumper cable on a TEAC VRDS20 CDP and and also a fuse popped on an amp. Curiously these all happened during the winter, probably the expansion and contraction of different metals with extremes in temperature during shipping. Mind you, being curious I just popped the lid and did a quick fix. All the same it could be a bad board but it doesn't hurt to take a peek.

Thanks guys, I had already popped the hood and had a look around, checked the connectors, components etc. Gave it a shake, no rattles and did the nose test as well, no strange smells. Everything looks and feels as it should. The unit itself is pristine, you'd be hard pressed to pick it as not 100% brand new. There is just a small smear on one the rubber feet, that's it.
After the once over I plugged it back in and it had exactly the same issue. Even with just my headphones plus the power and the radio aerial connected I couldn't get any audio, just pops and crackles. I could also hear the volume control click up and down with each step, but with no change in the volume of the pops and crackles plus the mute button doesn't mute, very strange.
When the new board arrives I'll take it apart gently, examine every piece as I remove it and have a good look to see if there is anything obvious. I'd hate to put the new board in and there still be a problem.
Cheers Gary

Received my XSP-1 and XPA-200 few days ago. Set it up and didnt have much time to turn it on for more than 20 mins for the past few days. Finally the weekend is here, thought i can spend time listening to music. Switched it on, in less than 5 mins i smell something in the room and found it is from the XSP-1. Quickly turned off everything and the magic smokes appears. Now waiting for 8am CST to call the support from singapore. Update - Fast response from the Emotiva Tech Support. They are going to send me a power supply parts so i can install it myself. Hopefully that would solve the problem.

I thought it might be interesting to give a progress report on the replacement board. So far it's been 5 days with USPS since it left Emotiva and it's made it all the way to Miami. Which I know from my visits there is further away from Sydney than Franklin, which I haven't been to, yet. Not Emotiva's fault, well maybe it is for choosing USPS Before you ask, yes, I have sent an email to Emotiva Support to let them know the speed of the USPS service. Good things come to those who wait, and I know it will be a good thing when it gets here. Cheers Gary
