Performance 10

Riverdance... Yawn... C'mon really? Well this performance in China celebrates the 15th anniversary of the Riverdance production, and to commemorate the milestone, this, their 4th video (and first Bluray) was made in 2010 to celebrate Riverdance's extraordinary success.
This Bluray was shot during their performances in Beijing, but it was made without the live audience and then later crowd shots and applause was added. You would never know this unless you were told and it really paid off.
The lighting, camera angles and audio are top notch. Bill Whelan, who wrote all the music did a fabulous job, as did the band who were superb.
The mix for this show was almost half music and half dancing. Anuna (choral group) did most of the singing and they had various other singers and dancers here and there.
I'm not a real big fan of dancing, but I have to give credit to the dance performers. They must all be great athletes with a lot of stamina. I especially admire when 30 dancers are on stage at once all tapping at great speed but in total syncopation. Always spot on.
The audio track is in Dolby Digital or DTS and both sound great. The video was a bit uneven, sometimes looking great, and yet at other times being a bit dull and grainy but certainly watchable.
This is a great BR for the whole family, the music is just fabulous if you like contemporary Irish Folk Music - even if you don't, the band is so good they alone are worth a listen - especially the violin player.
This BR iv very expensive, I paid $40 for it I think.
I also think its worth every penny..
Highly recommended.
