I've been listening to my new (to me) USP-1 for almost a week now. Very impressed! This is my first pre-amp set up, I've always we the the way of pre-outs from a surround receiver. I'm still dialing in the the subwoofer, but seem to be getting close to my preferred sound. The RPA-1 gain meshes well with the USP-1s volume control, not touchy. About 9 o'clock is where most of my listening has been so far. Hope to crank it a little more once I am satisfied my crossover points are sufficient (so I dont over drive my ERM-1s). One bonus I realized when rewiring my set-up was..... I didn't realize I would be able to run my SCAD/DVD audio player thru the aux inputs of the USP-1, for the 2 channel mixes of course.. Duh!!

I had a USP-1 running through an RPA-2 and yes, I agree 100%, it's a very sweet sound combo. I'm now using a RSP-2 with the RPA-2 and it is also very sweet for 2 channel!!! ;D

Maybe someday I will move on to an RSP-2 or XSP-1. I'd like to hear a comparo of those pieces. But I think I would up grade my speakers before that. I am happy right now.
