After an hour of listening to music, the amp clicks once. It sounds kind of the sound when you turn on/switch off your amp. Does anyone else have this problem?

Same with mine. It may have something to do with the class H power supply topology.

Good to know that others have the same issue. Did you have already contact with the support team?

I do not think anything is wrong with the amp. This is probably normal behavior.

Same with mine. It may have something to do with the class H power supply topology. The XPA-2 isn't class H. Only the XPR series is class H. Further, I owned a class H amp for 20 years, it never "clicked" other than when turning on, or off. I think you both have a problem with your amps.

Heat sink expansion maybe?

That's what I was thinking. The XPA series amps occaasionally have that issue. Some/most were fixed by loosening the screws to the heat sinks. Mine, however, have never made a sound.

Sounds like normal temperature related material expansion to me,...I wouldn't worry about it unless the 'click' you hear is loud, or it becomes more frequent. Someone above mentioned loosing the connections on the heat sinks(?). That might mitigate the sound because then it could expand & contract w/o so much resistance.

Both my XPA-1's exhibit the clicking noise once warmed up (and also when cooling down).
Do you just slightly loosen the screws on the underside of the chassis ? It would be great if someone could give me more detailed instructions.
Cheers,

I will try to loosen the screws a little.

I can't say I ever had "clicks" from my XPA-2, now replaced with an XPR-2, but if it was heat sink expansion as alluded to above, maybe my fan setup was more than efficient enough so that any hot air was exhausted out where it didn't allow the inside of the box to warm up enough. For those having the clicks, do any of you have an exhaust fan setup?

The heat sinks are aluminum, while the chassis is steel. They expand and contract at different rates, which can sometimes cause the occasional creak as the amp warms up and cools down. If it's really an issue, you can try VERY SLIGHTLY loosening the screws that secure the heat sinks to the chassis - or even loosening all but one screw on each heat sink. Alternately, you can try tightening them.
Really, though, it's nothing to worry about.

You ever hear you car make little ticks and clicks as it cools off?
This is the same thing. Slightly different expansion coefficients of the different materials, as Keith has mentioned.
No worries.

Dan and Keith,
Whew!! What a relief that is. I thought my amp was developing arthritis. ;D ;D ;D
