I finally put my system together with the arrival of the umc-200. This is an all new system I've been piecing together since December : Xpr-5 Umc-200 Aperion Grands 5.1 Oppo 103
The amp has its own 20 amp circuit. The speakers are all wired with new 10 guage wire. The interconnects are all new from Blue Jeans. (If that helps)
While waiting on the umc-200, I hooked up the Oppo to the xpr-5. Everything seamed fine. Then the umc-200 came in and hooked it up yesterday. I listened to a few movie clips and some CDs (I've got to say I'm impressed).
However, a few hours later, I was watching some video (Apple TV to Oppo to UMC) and there was a large pop. The amp went into protection mode showing the solid red bar on channel 2.
I've cycled the unit on and off, checked and then removed all connections, and still the amp goes into protection mode. I also removed the left main speaker and plugged it into an old Yamaha receiver. The left main works, but I'm scared that I damaged it.
I've got an email to the mother ship, but then I've got to wait until Monday. I'm hoping to get some forum help. Lets hope I don't need to replace a speaker and amp!
Thoughts? Troubleshooting tips?
Thanks,
Chris

You should be able to remove the speaker leads from the XPR-5 and cycle power. All channels should be up a running now. You must use main switch on the back of the unit. If there is still a problem and the channel remains red, there is a problem within the XPR. I have heard through the forums that there is a connecter on the bottom of the amp (inside the chassis I believe) that can be jarred loose from the people at FedEx dropping the units of the back of the trucks, etc. My guess is they will have you check that out when you speak to them. I don't own an XPR so I can't say, but that would be my first check. Look through these forums for the post that I am referring to. Maybe you can contact that owner and he can instruct you how to check it out so that you run no risk of Emo saying you voided the warranty. I think we all like this company because they are human and understand the need and want for working toys!! =o) Good luck!

Reaper, thanks for the heads up. No luck on the power cycling. I'll wait for cs on Monday.
I've got a ton of movies lined up to watch. Waiting a bit longer won't be too terribly bad. Maybe I'll finish the room treatments before this gets sorted out...

I've talked to Emotiva today about the amp. They are sending me a replacement even though I bought it in December. Good customer service all around. John called me back after 5 pm, too.
I also hooked up my speakers to my old avr to check for damage. I removed the speaker jumper and then plugged in and listened to the upper end speakers then the lower end speakers. I'm good to go when I get the amp replaced.
Thanks!
