If the other gear didn't sound much better I would simply sell it.
To my ears in this case The Emotiva falls short.
Like i said, I love Emotiva and how they do business and I am waiting to buy the XMC-1. The XPA-5 is still in my system running the center and surrounds.

The ONE advantage of Mac is that they will STILL FIX nearly ANYTHING they ever made. I know one person who uses 50 year old tube amps to great effect. Mac tends to hold value very well. And I think the MC275 is on like its 5th revision since original Introduction in 1961. And while rated at 75 a side, it's really closer to 90. Built on a single circuit board, the new version actually specs better than the original AND has balanced inputs, to boot. Bryston has a 20 year warranty, which presumably is part of the huge bill you pay when picking UP your amp.
So, if you're in it for the Long Haul, Mac MAY make sense. HT folks need not apply since next week a New version of HDMI will be out and everybody will need a new receiver or pre-pro.

Cheeku, Don't get upset about weird reviews. Unless you have pretty much followed the person doing the review and know what they value AND have also heard the associated equipment, it's just so much GAS. As kind of a analogy, I read film reviews. But, I read reviews from those with which I agree lots or DISagree even more. That way, I can tell in advance how I will react to the movie based on THEIR review. If i read a review and the guy HATES it and I usually DISagree, good chance I'll like it.
Also, reviewers generally don't 'hate' stuff. They try to find the value in everything, even it seems 'faint praise'.

Now that I have your attention... Got my XPA-5 fired up and listening to 2 channel music. Using analog out from my Oppo. Natalie Cole CD. HOLY CRAP! It's like she's standing in front of me singing. I cannot believe the imaging improvement. And, of course, as I'm walking out the door, the mail man delivers my very first SACD, The Essential Marvin Gaye! Also, my system has always had the "horsepower", but now with the Emotiva, I feel like it has the "torque" as well. Does that make sense? Also, I have read "audiophile" reviews about the XPA-5 stating that it lacks "upper end airiness" compared to 5 figure amps. Horse S@@@! I have the AV123 X-Statik towers that speak at the very highest registers of human hearing, and there is all the air one could ask for! Midrange and bass have weight to them finally as well. Will submit a complete review when my complete system is setup. It also lacks an extra digit to the left of the decimal point $$$$
