Congrats on the nice review! You know, I have the Schiit Bifrost DAC as well. I did not do a head to head comparison of the two (I use the Bifrost as a DAC for a headphone amp) but I put it into my main system while I was waiting for the XDA-2 to arrive.
The review found the XDA-2 to be leaner than the Bifrost. I am only going by memory but what I thought after getting the XDA-2 was that it sounded slightly fuller, not leaner than the Bifrost. Both sound excellent to me, though so sound-wise it would be flipping a coin as far as I am concerned. The XDA-2 gets the nod for looking better in the equipment rack, though. The XDA-2 is also more versatile.

Too bad the reviewer loses some credibility by massively misstating the power output of the headphone amp! He seems to have confused vrms with wattage. Otherwise, I think the review is fairly consistent with my (very positive) experience with the XDA-2. Not the be-all end-all product in every one of its several functions, but an unbeatable value for what you get. A digital preamp/DAC/HP amp is a very convenient combination!

I have one. It is actually pretty good. My biggest complaint is the choice of using a USB 1.1 chipset, therefore USB is limited to 24/96, and the lack of inputs (which have to be manually switched) I'm getting my XDA-2 (traded raffle prize) tomorrow, and will let you know how it compares on sound quality.

I have two of the XDA-2's set up as preamps mated to my XPa-2's....first and second Gen. The XDA-2 does wonders with sound and doubles as an excellent headphone amp. Absolutely nothing bad to say about it and I agree with the rave reviews!
