Emotiva was mentioned in a Lifehacker article: "Five Best A/V Receivers" (Yes, you read that correctly). Based on nominations, we were listed as one of the top 5 receiver brands. Many of you may find it amusing that Emotiva is on a top 5 receiver list when we don't even have a receiver. ;D I'm personally a big lifehacker and gizmodo fan, so this definitely made my day. You can vote for Emotiva in their "Best A/V Receiver" poll. We're currently in last place... and I couldn't be more thrilled. After all, this is a vote for the best receiver. Check out the discussions and posts after the article as well. lifehacker.com/5986358/five-best-av-receiver

I had to vote for a "receiver", so i went with Onkyo. They make great AVR's.
Maybe Emo should make an AVR. That'd get my vote.

Personally can't wait to replace my Onkyo receiver with some Emotiva amps and I'll use an old processor until I can afford XMC-1. I'll be going backwards from HDMI codecs., but the increase in quality will be worth it.

I voted for Emotiva - twice.
Newer Onkyo models don't generate heat like older units. I have a TX-NR818 and it runs at cool temps. Think they made this change beginning with the X09 series.
I had an TX-SR805 and it ran warm. I always used a PC-type cooling fan on top to dissapate the heat and never had an issue.

The receivers in the article are all lower end units. Emotiva (even my DMR-1) sounds better than any of these.
I voted (twice) for Emotiva.

I think that the vote already happened, in this post: lifehacker.com/5985887/best-av-receiver?tag=hive-fiveThat being said, I think that some placement at the end was simply because it was only supposed to be a vote for receivers and there were enough people who voted for Emotiva that they figured it should be moved into the list. Weird... didn't see the poll in Chrome. Must be some bug on my machine. At any rate, voted to get it into the high five. Now to vote it up.

If you save $1.00 per day you will have more than enough cash to buy one when the XMC-1 is eventually released. ;D You gotta love it when a company doesn't even make an AVR and they are on the list. Makes you wonder how "valid" they really are in this field. Now if they labelled it as "cost effective HT systems" or such...lol

They asked users what the top receivers were. Enough people said emotiva that they then decided to add them to the list. I think it's perfectly appropriate for what the side is. I have Windows 7, 64 bit, and I use Chrome and had no problem with Lifehacker... or any other site I have tried to use for the past year or so. I imagine there are some sites that are not compatible with Chrome, but I have not run into any so far.

Many VIPs here have enormous amount of posted comments ranging from a thousand plus, an example like Geebo, world record 10,000+. How do you guys find time to enjoy your rig when you're reply, reading all comments, articles, making post?. So my question is, do you attach your entire rigs to PC speakers? Just curious.

I just buy Emo stuff so I can hang out here. I never listen to music. I hate music. But I like lookin' at the blue lights while typing. ;D

A general life hacking site. How to make the most out of life As you said, "they" decided to add Emo to the list...they approved Emo as a AVR. ;D Under your logic if "they" added a 1960s transister radio or a Krell AVP & AMPs because a lot of users said they were the best "AVR" then ... I just love the evaluations/reviews/etc on the Internet. My two tin cans & string are THE BEST phone system ever made... ...it said so on the Internet. I have a poor old (one of the last sold on clearance) UPA5s sitting in it's box used once to make sure all was working, but I can't part with it. Maybe I should hook it up to my laptop & PC speakers so I can watch the blue lights...lol. Once the XMC-1 ships I will move it to the theatre room with the XPA5 and move the UMC-1 to the office with the UPA5. LOL
