Oh sure, get a few Canadians together in one thread and it degrades into a celebration of the terribly violent and gruesome sport of hockey. OK, well we do have several dozen folks shot every night down here but that is simply an exercising of our constitutional rights. Where does it say anything in the Canuck constitution about bashing the other guys face to a pulp eh?   |

wow i got my new speakers today and i am super impressed and really happy.. paradigm studio 100s cc 690 massive centre and the cc 590 surrounds wow they all sound great.. cant believe the bass out of the 100s taj mahal never sounded so good in my house.. my xpa 3 should arrive tomorrow.. went to the docs this morning follow up from physical last week said i might have cancer more test.. glade i got my new speakers to cheer me up .. wow they do sound great.. cheers... |

I bet they sound amazing! When you get the chance, do put up some pics! I'm really sorry to hear about your diagnosis. You are right, those speakers really will pay for themselves. They bring me so much emotion through music. i have trouble figuring out how to post a pic on this site.. i dont have url pics just in the computer.. just my luck this morning was sound asleep and the fedex man showed up at 8.05 am and didnt hear a knock.. just found the note.. dont they know people are sleeping this earlie lol.. hopefully i can pic up at centre in the evening.. rather than waite.. xpa 3 was right at my door and missed it.. lol big hockey fight tonight leafs sens my cc690 centre is massive looks way bigger at home then in the store.. still sounding really great.. really do need more power scared to turn it up.. to much.. cheers.. |

i have the denon 3313 so if at -16 db now and i put at -16 db with amp how much louder
would it be?
they say maximium input power is 230 watts but recommend amp power upto 350 watts
how do you know when u get up to the 200 watt area? or i guess for xpa 3 150 watts?

But, if you increase power by 10 times it will subjectively sound "twice as loud". 10x more power creates a 10 dB increase in SPL, so in your example if you went from -16 to -6 it would use 10x more power and sound twice as loud (assuming the amp didn't clip or the speakers overload). It's not all about power and volume but how well the amp drives and controls the speakers, a separate power amp like the XPA-3 will do a better job and have more headroom for music peaks. |
