Just recently purchased the XPA-3, my first Emo product. I got it drive a pair of recently acquired Usher CP-6311 and X-616 center channel speakers. I don't have the new speakers hooked up yet, but the amp certainly drives my old Edge Audio bookshelves very well. The new Usher's will replace my front three, can't wait to get them in place. My wife is making me wait until my birthday in two weeks. Other than adding a blue ray player, this is the first major upgrade to my components in almost 10 years. Next will be an additional amp and new processor as I move to an all separate HT setup. What do you guys think? Attachments:

Welcome aboard htpanic! And I think you've got a great start going there too, you'll love the XPA-3. I also like that you replaced the side trims with black versions - much better looking!

I'd be cautious about stacking other gear atop the XPA, especially in an enclosed space.

It's a little hard to tell from the picture, but the only component on top of the XPA is the ICBM, which is very light. Just above the is a shelf where the panasonic, cable box, and Xbox sit. The cabinet is built into a wall. Behind the wall is a storage room, where everything is pretty wide open. Is the concern weight on top of the XPA or heat?

It's not the weight, HT, its the heat dissipation.

Yes, I thought about that....since its so open behind the components, I think it should be fine. I've had the XPA in place for about two weeks now, and it seem to stay cool. The Outlaw 1050 probably warms up the most out of everything.

Welcome to the Emotiva Lounge. Congrats on your new XPA-3 power amp. You should find it is a good fit for your new Usher speakers. The Ushers are very exceptional sounding speakers and are built like a tank. The XPA-3 amp is a good match with the Usher. You should get many years of enjoyment from your new additions. Let us know what you think after you have had a chance to break the speakers in.

I would plug in now because of the thirty day trial period. You may decide to change to the XPA-5 after listening to XPA-3 because of having 5.1 setup.

Tell her it is the prudent thing to do financially.
