-I copied this from my theater thread and updated it a little- my impression of the XPA-5 - wow. It brought a punch and depth I hadn't heard before from my Klipsch KLF-20's, which I've had since 1995. (So I know their sound) In fact, I did a double-take the other night just listening to a track I know well, because the kick drum had so much more to it than I've heard previously. It had more impact of course, but the sound.. I could really hear more of the pedal hitting the drum head, and the "thump" extended deeper.. snares and cymbals are equally as impressive. It's all there - the good and the bad of whatever recording you're listening to! When I wanted it louder, it delivered.. Almost taunting me to see what the speakers could take. By the way, I was running the mains full-range during this to see what they would really sound like without the aid of the subs.. For the theater, I have a pair of 18" subs in an infinite baffle being run by a Behringer EP2500. It's putting 1300 watts into the subs, and the XPA-5 has NO issues keeping up with what the subs can put out, and I'm measured them at over 120dB. I will say, the more I listen, the more I'm finding areas where my speakers are now the 'weak link' in the chain - it's certainly not the amp anymore! In short, the XPA-5 is a truly impressive piece, and has a good home in my rack for as long as I can see... Can't say that for anything else I have short of the PS3..

Anyone (like myself) who's had the same speakers for a while and is very familiar with their sound is a good measuring tool for reviewing new electronics. Thanks for the review. I'm very close to ordering a couple of XPA-5's myself, after I find out a couple more details about my plans for them.
