Ok, I am not a gamer, but I have some general and specific advice.
Most people know Alienware. They are actually owned by dell. Go to dell.com. In the lower left part of the screen in the small print try shopping in the outlet. You may find something in your price range.
Another company that I have heard of making good gaming computers is iBuyPower.com. They have a laptop that the base configuration is $829, which looks pretty good.
Buy a copy of MaximumPC magazine and look at the advertisers. There are a couple other companies who make gaming laptops, but the names escape me.
You do NOT want a intel graphics chip in the laptop for gaming. NVidia chips are considered the best with the AMD Radeon being considered pretty good.
Unfortunately gaming computers are expensive because they really tax the computer. Things like memory upgrades are usually easy to do after the fact, sometimes hard drive upgrades are easy too, but processors and graphics cards are near impossible to upgrade after you have purchased the laptop.
Wish I had better and more specific recommendations.
Good luck.

My son has the Dell 15R special edition: www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-15r-se-7520/fsGreat gaming rig and he also uses it for school. The caveat is that for $799 your son would be limited to the config with core i5 and 6GB of RAM. At the $999 level he can get core i7 and 8GB of RAM which is what my son has. Both configurations come with Radeon HD7730M 2GB graphics. Also an mSATA SSD drive for instant boot. I would also recommend upgrading the internal drive to bluray. The Alienware laptops are excellent gaming rigs but they are heavy for normal school use and the M14X starts at $999. Here is the link: www.dell.com/us/p/alienware-m14x-r2/pd.aspxJD

you are not going to get a full blow gaming laptop for $800. If you up the budget to $1000 you will have a few options. At 800 there just are not laptops with GPU's. If you can up the budget a bit, you'll find a few asus, lenovo, toshiba, and dell pc's that should fit the bill. www.amazon.com/Lenovo-IdeaPad-15-6-Inch-Laptop-Metal/dp/B00ATANUT4Here in my opinion is a great gaming laptop. You'll be hard pressed to get any better for the price :

Thank’s every one , I know nothing of gaming and PC’s but figured $800 was going to be a stretch , but still he has to stick to the $800 and he knows it will not be optimal he’s just looking for what would/could be the best at that price point or maybe it's impossible at that price .

I'd look to see if you can find some good discount codes for dell/Alienware. There are oftentimes 10-20% off codes. That brings your thousand dollar laptop down to 800. For gaming the GPU is probably the most important thing.

If I might suggest, egghead.com or tigerdirect.com as they have a larger selection and you may be able to catch a special to fill your budget needs.
