I need some a lot of education after just buying a brand new system. I have a 103 and I need some help understanding the DSD thing. I'm slowly building up my media collection, starting more or less from scratch...
Thanks, and my apologies for the thread-jack.

DSD downloads are currently mainly classical music correct?

OK- first couple questions- DSD is a high resolution format used for SACD's? What hardware would I need to get the downloaded files to play? (OPPO 103 and UMC-200)
Feel free to answer me like I'm in 6th grade. I'm completely and thoroughly confused regarding storage and playback systems!

The playbackdesigns.com post offers this comparison: This seems a little disingenuous to me – music does not consist of square waves (or does it?). I appreciate arguments for high bitrate music that boil down to counteracting the loudness wars, but everything else seems like audiophoolery. Also, what does the square wave output of a DSD look like after the lowpass filter? Not so square, is it? P.S. Oppo _is_ pretty great.

I'd be interested to see the outcome of some blind testing between the two encoding systems, PCM & DSD. Would there would be much if any difference between the two for my listening enjoyment? Definitely subjective in nature.
