If this consitututes a threadjack, I apologize, but I too am on the verge of pulling the trigger on some Emotiva stuff. I am looking at an XPA-5 (currently running a 5.1 system, but might go to 7.1 eventually) and a UMC-200 (I have given up hope on the XMC-1). I am also looking at either an Oppo103 or 105. I use the system mostly for movie and streaming music from a NAS over Cat 5. The UMC-200 has no Ethernet capability, so I probably would stream audio through the Oppo. The question is which Oppo should I get? Or is there a better solution than the UMC-200?

It would help if we know what names of products you are running right now including electronics, speakers, your requirements for volume and general room size. Sorry, I don't know anything about network streaming. I'm sure there's lots of people here that will help you. As for the xpa-5 it's a fantastic performer - and so are all the other emo amps even their lowest models.

I have the Oppo BD 93, and it is not really a great streamer if you ahve a large music library. The sound is fine, but the library management is overwhelmed by large music collections and it goes too slowly. I would make sure that this is improved on the 103/105 if you have a large collection of music files.

The room is about 10 x 20 with the system located on one of the long walls. Current speakers are a hodge podge and I plan to upgrade. For now I have a pair of JBL L110s of some thirty plus years vintage, with mid-line Polk center channel, sub and surrounds. I am using a Onkyo TX-NR609 AVR right now.

I thought I would use the analog stereo outs on the Oppo. If the Oppo itself can't handle the file management, then I guess I could look into a software solution to be run off the NAS. Speaking of which, I read a lot about processing audio through the USB DAC. I assume if the signal is coming through the Cat5, it also would be similarly processed through the DAC?
