Wow, this is no joke! Now you nuts know the finest minds come from the Pacific Northwest. Bob is quite the man and a brilliant mind. Here's a quote from an interview in Stereophile Magazine in 1990: Carver: "I started designing amplifiers when I was in the 7th grade. Transistors hadn't arrived on the scene, so all my early work was designing vacuum-tube amplifiers. My first passion is vacuum-tube amplifiers, I grew up with vacuum-tube amplifiers. I love vacuum-tube amplifiers, I love them to pieces."www.stereophile.com/interviews/290bob_carver/index.html (great read) Bob is obviously deep into room treatments ( ;D ;D ;D)

.....Those of us with Klipsch heritage speakers who know what tubes can do for these oldies, are undoubtedly VERY interested...... Almost a understatement - LOL. I almost had a stroke listening to the podcast! The issue now is price. The BLACK BEAUTY MONOBLOCKS at $13K/pair are above my price point. $3K would be my absolute limit.

A price increase will be the LAST thing you'll see coming!
We're going to use our manufacturing and purchasing leverage to reduce prices, not increase them.
And we're going manufacture of these beautiful products in Franklin, TN USA.
It's going to be fun. ;D
Cheers, Big Dan

Incredible news. This was released in the podcast? Guess I gotta start listening to the podcasts!
Looks like only power amps at this time? No pre's? Guess I'll be waiting a while. Looks like it should be worth the wait though. Glad I haven't upgraded my pre yet!
Gotta agree with cfelliot though. Pricing is a big concern. I'm a budget audio enthusiast. I'm not an audiophile, thank you. I really enjoy getting world class sound from working man prices. I might go 2K or 2.5K for a good preamp, but that's about it. Could wait and buy used though I guess. Might be a long wait. And on the used market there'd be lot of other gear to look at too. Cary audio. Rogue audio. Etc.
I hope they consider hybrid pre and power amps. Don't forget about us working poor please!
OK, I'm rambling...

How is this good news?
Emotiva is a company that already has trouble meeting schedules and promises (e.g. xmc-1, umc-500, etc, etc). This acquisition is simply a further dulution of staff, funds and resources away from their core business; and me getting a xmc-1.
Sincerely /b

When I first read this thread last night, the first thing I thought of was I wonder what all those people who thought Emo was going under were thinking now? Now I know

This acquisition is simply a further dulution of staff, funds and resources away from their core business; and me getting a xmc-1. Sincerely /b How about an additional/increased revenue stream? More money coming in means more resources to existing and future products. Remember, Dan didn't buy just the name & IP, he's taking on the staff as well so we'll Have Bob Carver and his team lending a hand & expertise to Emotiva products which can only be a good thing. Jade Designs/Emotiva is expanding to meet customer demands, not to dilute their resources. If you have a growing & hungry customer base you need to grow to meet the demand. If anything, Emotiva was too small to handle the ambitious workload they were putting on themselves previously. On a side note - can anyone imagine calling Emo tech support for a Carver-related product and getting Bob on the phone? Groovy

How is this good news? Sincerely /b The glass half full view of this merger is that expansion will allow them to acquire and retain additional resources in house. This could also mean leveraging additional IP across their product portfolio thus accelerating new product development rather than stifling it. Do you see competitors in this space divesting themselves of nameplates or continuing on with the trend of acquiring more? I guess I see acquisitions as a highly positive thing rather than a negative. Simply stated, I feel that my processor upgrade card just became more valuable rather than less valuable as a result of this announcement! I cannot wait to see the outcome of this.
