I finally received the SR-8100 yesterday. I set it up in a small office transformed into a mini HT: 14# 16, wood floor and using 2 Polk Rtia-7's fronts, Rtia-1 for surround and 2 in celings 5.5 inches for front highs, wiht a 10" JBL subwoofer.
This receiver replaces a Pioneer Elite SC-37 rated at 140 wpc. The 80 wpc SR-8100 performed exceptionally well. I love the auto room setup with the supplied mic. The image through my OPPO 103 as well as the sound are amazing. The bluetooth function is super easy, streaming MOG music through my Iphone4s.
I love this receiver, it has plenty of power, is low profile, ... I dont care for not having an internet connection as all my other devices do have it. The menu setup is super tweakable, and onlays on the screen although not very fancy but is very functional. The remote is slim, palstic but has tons of control buttons nicely designed and light ( no heavy metal remote like Emotiva's). This is the first receiver , not separates, that I buy from sherbourn and I am very pleased with it.

So the auto setup/room correction works pretty well? Accurate distances, crossovers and corrections?

Did it come with a manual? I still don't see one available for download.

Yes it comes with a manual. A couple of pics. One thing is the Sub is only XLR, so you might need a XLR to RCA convertor if your sub has only RCA. Luckily I had a cable handy. A bit bigger pic img14.imageshack.us/img14/5821/img5215mo.jpg

Isn't that an RCA sub out directly under the RCA out for the Center channel or am I not reading the print correctly? (Photo is a tad out of focus and my eyes are bad also...)

I found this description under the "Connectivity" section of the Sherbourn website:
- Subwoofer output (line level XLR balanced). Unbalanced with supplied RCA adaptor

^ I just wanted to confirm that the subwoofer output was XLR and required an adapter. From the description, I got the impression the adapter was included. Most folks will require an unbalanced connection, so it would make sense for Sherbourn to include the adapter. EDIT: just saw rocky's post. Strange that no adapter was included.

I brought some "signal cables" 2.5m to go with my active speakers and once they arrived relised they were the wrong sex. Meaning to onsell them but hadn't got around to it yet. They are correct for this application. Still might get a cheaper cable for this setup.

remote looks to be identical to the UMC-200 but with a sherbourn logo! I have come to like the new remote, but it does seem to miss the high end (brick like) feel of the old aluminum remote.
