I can also confirm that the SR-8100 I received does not include the XLR to RCA adapter. Snagged one from a local music store for $9, but was disappointed it didn't include one considering both the website and manual indicate one should be included.
So far, I'm very impressed with the audio quality compared to the Denon AVR3310Ci it replaced. Center channel clarity was a big problem with the Denon, and the Sherbourn shines! Haven't actually run the auto room calibration, so I'm expecting it will only get better.
Still waiting on Sherbourn support to get back to me on the RS232 protocol/speed/etc. Can't seem to communicate with it at all. Have tried the Sherbourn 7030 settings/codes to no avail.

No XLR to RCA adaptor included. I e mailed sherbourn twice and have not heard from them yet. I used a cable that i had handy, xlr--> rca and it works fine, but the website description states clearly that the adapter should be supplied,..except it is not. overall i love the unit's performance. the room auto correction is very accurate and more tweakble then i know how to handle.

XLR to RCA depending on your subwoofer may overload the subwoofers input? Am I right?

What are your plans for the RS232 port? What automation system are you running? As far as room correction, don't be shocked if you like the sound better without EQ. This tends to bear out the better your room and speaker setup are. Flat sound across the board may not be what the speaker designer was really going for. Just saying.

You may need REW (and patience) to really dial this in assuming what you want is a flat sound. But the PEQs that this unit has should get you there.

Thanks for letting us know, greenkiwi. Great service from Emotiva with over-nighting the adapters. Good to know they are on top of it. +1 bootman!

Now if they would update the page to mention that there isn't any digital audio out of any kind (the specs page lists coax and optical outputs)...
Actually, now that I think about it, is there any sort of detailed specs page in the manual they provide? It'd be nice to see a little more detail about the amp section and the actual dimensions of the thing.

This should be clarified in the web description. Question for owners: Does the manual list this unit as having digital out (besides HDMI)? If so it could mean a last minute design change.

I have some decent room treatments and I prefer my system with very little correction. The only part that I really corrected is my sub, because I was getting too much boom from it's corner placement.

I finally received the SR-8100 yesterday. I set it up in a small office transformed into a mini HT: 14# 16, wood floor and using 2 Polk Rtia-7's fronts, Rtia-1 for surround and 2 in celings 5.5 inches for front highs, wiht a 10" JBL subwoofer. This receiver replaces a Pioneer Elite SC-37 rated at 140 wpc. The 80 wpc SR-8100 performed exceptionally well. I love the auto room setup with the supplied mic. The image through my OPPO 103 as well as the sound are amazing. The bluetooth function is super easy, streaming MOG music through my Iphone4s. I love this receiver, it has plenty of power, is low profile, ... I dont care for not having an internet connection as all my other devices do have it. The menu setup is super tweakable, and onlays on the screen although not very fancy but is very functional. The remote is slim, palstic but has tons of control buttons nicely designed and light ( no heavy metal remote like Emotiva's). This is the first receiver , not separates, that I buy from sherbourn and I am very pleased with it. What made you want to upgrade from your sc-37? I have a sc-25 and really enjoy it. Any comparison thoughts yet on the two?

Got the RS232 codes from Sherbourn. FYI, port is 9600,n,8,1. And the protocol is completely different from the 7030. Looking to integrate with iRule for automation, through an iTach WF2SL device. Got it kinda working, but looks like a timing issue (buttons don't work all the time). Manual commands through telnet working perfectly. The codes aren't quite as documented. I'll post the iRule template once I get it working... As for the EQ, I haven't run the auto calibrate yet, so I'm not sure if I like it or not, but thanks for the heads up!

Any comparison thoughts yet on the two? I just felt I needed to try the Sherborn. I was not disappointed. I like the low profile and the easier to use remote control so far. The setup was indeed really easy with the auto room correction, not as fancy at the auto MCACC of the Pioneer Elite. I sold mine for twice as much as I spent on the SR-8100 and I am not finding any fault with the swap. I would not call it an upgrade, rather a lateral move, almost, but the Pioneer had so many features I was not using. The extra cash made more sense. !

I went from a Pioneer Elite to a UMC-200 and feel it was an overall upgrade. MCACC however is better overall than the automated EMO-Q. I think MCACC is very underrated though and gave me better results than Audyssy on my Denon. The remote for the SR-8100 is the same as the UMC-200 and very easy to use. The one feature I miss about the Pioneer is MCACC but that is minor. The one thing I miss about the Denon is being able to select a device in the menus for the remote to control.

Has anyone with an 8100 tried the Zone 2 or 3 analog outputs? Specifically do they pass audio from all digital sources (coax, optical, HDMI)? This feature is rather unique to the UMC-1 and I presume the UMC-200 and hopefully the XMC-1, I just hoped it also made it's way to the Sherbourne line.
