Mgbpuff I think we can see that in your opinion pro audio and class D technology is not good enough. Obviously others disagree and think there are some good class D amps out there. I doubt anybody's minds here can be changed. I would like it if you could stay away from picking on people's personal equipment. I think it brings the forum mood down. It's meant to be a friendly place. You can advise them of course... Thanks. You have some fine equipment, I bet those maggies sound great.

Why are there people on here calling other people's gear "crap"? Doesn't really belong in this forum IMHO. Agreed. Audio elitest BS.

There are some good consumer Class D amps on the market now. Class DT in fact isn't Class D at all. I just think that the preponderance of Pro equipment is wildly rated (output watts at typically 10% THD, etc.). A true 14000 watt amplifier would require 63 amps at 220 volts, more than a range outlet provides. My objection is to most Pro equipment only; it's constructed to a different purpose, has different gains, uses different connectors, often has noisy fans, questionable ground design, and other differences ad nauseum.

N8DOGG, Lab.Gruppen FP 14000 amps - 14000 watts? Class TD? (Rip off of Carver patents? Really Class B with high speed rail switching, otherwise known as Class H)) 10 subs? You are not going to find any of your 'stuff' on Ebay. Surprised you are slumming here. P.S. 1) Where did you find this unusual 'stuff'? 2) Do you have a power sub station on your property? First of all, I was talking about ebay for class D modules. You can find any of them on there. I never said anything to do with what I have powering my HT. If my amps fail, who cares, I'll fix them myself. I've got 5 years electronics repair and mod/fix all my own stuff. Not sure what brought that on but don't worry about my system, I've had lots of emo stuff but like my class D ice modules better that I did my XPA stuff, as it's takes up less room and has double the power. The SQ is great as the 14000's are only powering subs, 4K per driver and they do an excellent job. Also my FP14000's are clones, not the real thing. Though they test just as well as the real LG's. I'm not about to spend 8K and amp lol Oh and BTW, I run each amp off it's own 30 amp line. I've got a 400 amp service. Will they put out 14,000 watts? no but who cares I'll never use that much anyways.

D-Sonic has abandoned ICE modules for a new Chinese module that is comparable (read copied from) to Hypex nCores. The marketing company for this module is Abletec from Scandinavia.

No, they still use ICE modules as well as the new modules they use. Any amps with the 250 or 500 watt modules are still ICE ASP series (500 asp and 1000 asp) the other 400, 600 and 1500 modules are Abletec and he's got another module he will be using in the future for extreme high powered mono amps.

Point is that he uses modules manufactured by others. I have this lingering doubt about PWM waveforms being filtered appropriately to cover the audio bandwidth + and to work indistinguishably well with all types of speaker transducers regardless of their inductive load or lack of it. I think you will find that its usually the filter that is the failure point of many Class D designs. If the filter fails or deteriorates, the next to fail may be your expensive speakers which are not designed to deal with PWM power. Sorry about the use of the word 'crap', but the unfiltered PWM signal being directed toward your speakers is the epitome of CRAP save for its being perfectly filtered.

It seems like you just want to hate class D stuff. Which is fine, there are lots of choices of amp tech for everybody, each with it's advantages and disadvantages. Thats whats great about this hobby, different strokes for different folks!

You haven't made one point that wasn't either factually wrong or conjecture, presumption or supposition. OK we get it. You don't like class D. You're not alone. Like most others your experience is limited to reading. When my exposure to them was only from reading, I didn't care for class D either. After listening, I changed my tune (pun intended). Frankly, your condescending attitude leaves me completely indifferent to any opinion you may pose. ...

Yes, and most folks (at least on this forum) refrain from attacking other peoples equipment in order to make their own choices feel more valid.

www.hificritic.com/downloads/Class-D.pdfI know this is dated 2008, I will look for something more recent. It seems that you are not interested in the technical problems that Class D faces in audio amplification and you are not interested in anybody's thinking on the matter except your own. I am willing to talk about it, it is the condescending individual who thinks he is above discourse.

I have know idea where you have been hiding but I doubt you can find much of anything recent that I haven't read already. Somehow you think that all the people on this board have been under a rock waiting for your enlightenment? I've read hundreds of pages on "the technical problems that Class D faces in audio amplification". I've also spoken with dozens of people who actually own the amps. Most importantly, unlike yourself, I have first person direct experience with the technology itself. I am willing to talk about it, it is the condescending individual who thinks he is above discourse. Pal, all your "talk" consists of is insults interspersed between regurgitated internet theory. I'll say this one more time, you don't interest me. Goodbye. ....

Folks please refrain from personal attacks. It's great that there are so many flavors of amplification technologies to choose from. Regardless of which class we all prefer, let's all maintain some class! Remember, this is supposed to be a hobby. So let's enjoy it!

You can google crap all day, there is just as many articles stating the exact opposite. As far as I'm concerned, this thread has been hijacked enough. He loves his RD amps and thats good enough for me. You buy and believe what ever you want but nothing you say/post will change anything, if only because of the way you come off in your posts.

When someone says they like the sound of tubes over SS they are really saying (even if they do not know it) that the distortion is pleasing to them. When comparing 2 drivers that will go into a speaker people often pick the one with more distortion as sounding "better" because the distortion makes it sound louder and thus more pleasing. When listening to tweeters many people prefer the one that rolls off at the high end over the one that is flat to 20 kHz. It is not surprising to me that some people would prefer a PWM amp sound despite its flaws in audio reproduction that would drive many audiophiles nuts. This is the same world where Bose owns most of the sales and most of the rest are sound bars run by, you guessed it, class D chip amps.
