OK seems my pre (Cambridge Audio Azure 840SE) doesn't completely zero the balance on the channel ... its probably only a 3-20% balance adjustment...first time I have encountered this in a pre.
Need to check my XSP-1 now too...not sure if it has a balance control at all.
Edit... XSP has no balance control...i probably don't need one anyway - seems to be more harm than good.
I had hoped to use the mini-x as an amp for my tweeters in a triamp active speaker setup, however there is so much crosstalk when used at max input volume (my pre controls the active EQ) that when I checked the tweeters with the balance to L or R, I was getting much the same signal in both speakers.
I need to look more closely at this with another mini-x that I have to see if its the same on both. As the mini-x has no balance i need to drive the test with another pre or just pull the inputs individually.

You're saying that inter-channel cross-talk is very high? How odd - My Mini-X seems completely quiet on the spare channel with only one driven.
