In preparation for putting my DIY speaker project online, I bought a new XDA-2 and as used UPA-500.
I have never had loudspeakers in the room that this system is going into. So, I set up the XDA and UPA and hauled in a old DVD player for a source and a pair of speakers.
Not only does the room sound good, but the XDA/UPA combo is just fabulous! At $800 for a digitally sourced music system, I don't see how this can be beat.
I intended to use the UPA-500 as a filler while on my way to a pair of XPA-1Ls, but if my DIY speakers sound as good I may find it hard to justify the cost (lying here!).
Crossovers coming next week for the DIYs. I can't wait!!!!!

I put an XDA1 and mini x amp downstairs to go with my plasma tv and my sons xbox and all I can say is WOW! Now upstairs I just built myself a htpc hooked into a xda2/umc200 played in direct mode and what a sound. I'm using Jiver, I feel like a little kid at x-mas.

I don't have first hand experience with the XDA 2 but my UPA-500 5 channel amp for $399 was an outstanding amp for that price so I can very much agree with you on the sound of the UPA-500 hence my review on the UPA-500 page.... Chad

I have my XDA-2 paired up to the XPA-200, the Polk RTi-A1s, an X-Ref 12 and an Ultra Sub 10 for my PC setup. It's pretty orgasmic but I'm thinking about replacing the Ultra Sub 10 with an SVS PC12-Plus.

XDA-1 + UPA-2 + M80 towers sounds simply fab here. Glad to hear you are liking the setup! It's always nice when you know money was well spent eh?

Have had the UPA-500 in my system for 3 days now, And I have ZERO complaints. Currently its connected to my Marantz NR-1403, Unfortunately I can only use 2 channels. (It ONLY has stereo pre-outs) But this will be remedied by the end of the month, When I get the UMC-200!!, I never thought I would say it, But I am beginning to have a change of heart about the "Buy Direct" etailers, I connected the Mini-X (before trading up) To my bedroom stereo, Which consists of the Arcam A19 & CD17, Pro-Ject Debut Carbon, and B&W 685 bookshelf speakers, and I could hardly tell the difference with the Mini-X doing amp duty, So I can say I am sold on Emotiva!! I look forward to purchasing new products from them. And for the record Emotiva and B&W pair up nicely.
