I finally got my HDMI audio working from my PC. My PC has a GeForce GTX 670 connected to my UMC-200 (HDMI 4) that outputs the HDMI to a JVC RS-15 projector. OS is Windows 7. Here is what I had to do.
Download the Monitor Asset Manager utility from
www.entechtaiwan.com/util/moninfo.shtmDownload the EDIDOverride.zip from the AVSForum thread
www.avsforum.com/t/1091403/edid-override-threadConnect the projector directly to the PC via HDMI, leave the UMC-200 unconnected
Boot and run the Monitor Asset Manager.
From the ‘File’ menu create an INF file for the display.
Open this INF file in a text editor and find the “EDID_OVERRIDE Add Reg” section. It should have one entry that starts with “HKR, EDID_OVERRIDE, “0”, ….
This is where another line needs to be added to tell the driver that the device supports Audio. Open the EDIDOverride.inf file and copy the second EDID_OVERRIDE entry (line 39) into this INF file, right below the HKR, EDID_OVERRIDE, “0” part. Save and close
Shutdown the PC and reconnect the UMC-200. PC <-HDMI4-> UMC-200 <-HDMI Out->Projector.
Boot and run device manager. Find the Generic PnP monitor section and update the driver. Choose “Have Disk” and point the updater to the INF file just created. Ignore any “driver not signed” warnings.
At this point I had to re-install the GeForce Driver and now I had PCM stereo audio.
To get 5.1 channel working I had to go into the control panel and tell Windows 7 that I had a 5.1 speaker configuration.
I hope this help anyone also having this problem.
