I'm curious. Isn't it always a class A/B amplifier, with a class H power supply?
Is there a change when the class h power supply starts to be more active?

Awesome. Finally a review that mentions the XPR, Classe and Pass Labs in the same sentence. Seriously Emotiva, adding a $10 VU meter probably would've resulted in many more such comparisons. Even if you insisted on LEDs, why not thin finely spaced horizontally stretched rectangles instead of the loosely spaced circles? Anyway, that's my only gripe. XPR-1 FTW!

That's interesting about the class H switch that increases the THD. But still very respectable and what POWER. I also really like that it takes 3.5V to drive it to full.

Some SERIOUS power there! Congrats Emotiva! +1..What comes close to it?I Googled and come up with nothing even close to what is in it or the power that it has the "Specs" are as good if not better then some of the so called "Elite" about everything I look at Pass Lab,Krell,and Nothing that Parasound has comes close.

Out of curiosity I checked the performance specs of the Classe and Pass Labs amp reviews listed just under the XPR-1 Review. As it turns out, the XPR-1 had far better noise/distortion levels at 1 Watt and at rated output -- by about 10 dB each. Emotiva has hit a home run with the release of the XPR-1! Having distortion levels 10 dB quieter than the "Elite" brands is HUGE. Talk about power and finesse.

I like that the Mac looks like it's a half width module... and that there are three total modules that are one foot high! Wow! And it's close to 400#...

Mono-blocs are quite intriguing, but I've never had the want or desire to go in that direction. The XPR-2 and XPR-5 was my goal when Dan announced the Reference series power amplfiers and I'm way more than satisfied. I'm just longing for the day when they have company in the name of Reference speakers and processor.

Kinda says it all;
I’ve never measured an amplifier that could produce 1 kilowatt full bandwidth before.
The power sweep tests revealed the Emotiva XPR-1 to be the most powerful amplifier we’ve ever reviewed to date
The power levels achieved by the XPR-1 for these tests are legendary
Cheers Gary
