I bought a XPA-2 and XPA-3 roughly two years ago. I'm very happy with the XPA-2 but unfortunately the XPA-3 has never been used. I bought the XPA-3 in anticipation of getting the soon to be released XMC-1 and of course that hasn't happened.
I have the XPA-2 hooked up to an older Yamaha receiver 2092 via the only two pre-outs. With the Yamaha unfortunately only has two pre-outs, I'm forced to use the Yamaha amps for the center and rear speakers. Needless to say, this isn't ideal
Is there any way I can connect the XPA-3 to drive the center and rears even though there are only two pre-outs in the Yamaha. I hate the idea that the XPA-3 is just sitting there gathering dust with the prospect that it could sitting there well into the future.
Another option is to get the XMC-200 but I'm unclear on this units ability to stream music. I have an Oppo 93 that I'm using for streaming now. Would I be able to connect the Oppo to XMC-200 for streaming music? If so, how would that be done

Are you talking about XMC-1 or UMC-200? Also what kind of streaming are you talking about? Regular audio from your computer, a network drive, or internet streaming like netflix/pandora inbuilt into the player?

I have an Oppo 93 that I'm using for streaming now. Would I be able to connect the Oppo to XMC-200 (UMC-200) for streaming music? - Yes. If so, how would that be done. - Connect the outputs 7.1 or 5.1 directly to the UMC-200.

I also would suggest the UMC-200 while utilising the Oppo for the streaming as you do now. Economically it's a no brainer, even if you want to move to an XMC-1 later on. The 25% discount with the UMC-200 saves $375 on the XMC-1, so you would only have to sell the UMC-200 for $225 (hardly a big ask) to break even.
As suggested you could connect the Oppo to the UMC-200 via analogue (external inputs) or you could do it digital via the HDMI connection you would have for Blurays. CD's etc.
The sound of a UMC-200 with an XPA-2/3 combo will be huge step up from where you are currently.
Cheers Gary

Daniel ; recognized that yammie as an upmarket model for its time so checked its specs ;if this is it usa.yamaha.com/products/audio-visual/av-receivers-amps/rx/rx-v2092_black__u/?mode=modelyou do have a full set of preouts for both xpa amps ;the l/r preouts with jumpers you have been using presumably are dual purpose for outside equalizers etc [ or dbx units ;D] as well as the l/r preouts That said you don't have any room eq to speak of [even ypao] so a umc200 is well worth considering ; not to mention enabling playback of the lossless codecs ; not just lossy
