Perhaps I'm missing a setting but zone 2 switches to off when the UMC-200 is turned off. One then needs to go back into the menu and select on and the proper source to be played. In my case I have it synced to the main zone in order to play the same music throughout my house. Is this a known problem, or a feature that I don't know the reason for? Thanks in advance.

I can only say that the UMC-1 also turns zone 2 off when the main power is turned off, and it must be turned on separately when the UMC-1 is powered back on. I find this inconvenient, I have a macro on my Harmony to turn it on but, it's really not dependable because the zone 2 power is a toggle, not a discrete code. I also have my source synced with the main and don't have to re-select it.

There is a known bug where, if you have Zone 2 set to Synch to Main, the audio won't work after power cycling the UMC-200. (You will have to change the setting to a different input, then back again to Synch to Main, after you turn the UMC-200 Off and On again). This is fixed in the new firmware release. Has this ever been fixed? I have firmware 41 and when I turn the UMC-200 off Zone 2 power goes off and has to be turned on after a power on of the pre-amp. Seems like needless effort. Thanks

Keith -- I see your note that this is fixed, but I just bought a UMC-200 that has the latest firmware and the this problem doesn't seem to be fixed at all. To be clear, there are actually 2 problems with the Zones: 1. When you power cycle the UMC-200, Zone 2 and Zone 3 are always shut off rather than remembering the last on/off mode 2. When you power cycle the UMC-200, both Zone 2 and Zone 3 automatically change to "Sync to Main" rather than remembering the input that was designated in the Zone menu page So, if you want to use the Zones, after every power cycle you need to go into the Zone menu to turn each zone on, then if you want to use a separate input, you need to use the Zone menu reprogram the input of each zone to the desired source. This really makes the Zone unusable. Yes, I can reconfigure the zones every time, but I hate doing that. The worse problem is that my family uses the system and they won't be able to figure out how to do this. Is there a planned fix for this? There is a known bug where, if you have Zone 2 set to Synch to Main, the audio won't work after power cycling the UMC-200. Seems like this problem is here to stay and will never be fixed after all these years.
Well it's an old product. I don't believe any of the folks at emotive are looking at this piece of code ever.
