I see a lot of folks have multiple amps ,pre-amps, DAC, receivers and everything else. My question is how much power do you figure your system uses a month at your volume listening? I mean does your power meter sound like a turbine? Should this be part of my budget concerns? I didn't know where else to post this, so its here.

No concern for me. The A/C draws about double what the home theater does. I've tracked electricity usage since 2004. Even with a plasma and all the Emo gear, I'm well below the last 9 years and, I have been playing the 'stuff' a lot.... and loud. They way I look at it, it take more energy to cook a pizza than 6 hours of hard core listening. And the pizza doesn't taste as good. I see a lot of folks have multiple amps ,pre-amps, DAC, receivers and everything else. My question is how much power do you figure your system uses a month at your volume listening? Well, it all depends... on how long one listens for and at which volume levels. Of course electronics use power but in the grand scheme of things, it's not all that bad. My theater users the most power because of the projector but even then... watching a couple of movies is like leaving a light bulb on all night.
xki has a good point about modern TVs being more economical than the older models. LEDs use even less than plasma sets...

Most emo amps except the XPA-1 L's use only a very small amount of electricty at soft to no volume. They are not drawing 100% all the time.

I'll take a crack at your question with a couple of caveats. I run class D amps and have solar PV, so my annual electric bill is only about $250.
My HT system idles at 45 watts, and runs at 150-250 watts when the multi-channel and integrated are activated. All are running through a dedicated 20 amp circuit and PS Audio P5 regenerator (hence my ability to track wattage on any given day or hour). At 15 cents per kwh, my guess for a month on my system (w/o solar) is about $8 - $10. 1000 watts per day idle, 15 hours a week (minimum) listening to music at 200 - 250 watts per hour.
Disclosure - its a swag.
