Well I got my xpa-2 yesterday to match up with my xpa-5 so I though I'd give some though between the 2 and with both running so far. 1st. I decided not to go to work today to play with them My roommate and me were listening to music and swapping from xpa5 to xpa-2 to see if we could hear a difference for good 4 hours this afternoon and the only real difference we could hear was the xpa-2 images so good, it's almost freaky. You would swear that the band was right in front of you. The xpa-5's imaging was also good but the xpa-2's was freaking great!!! They did sound a bit different but it had to do with the imaging not that the amps sounded different in a colored kind of way (if you know what i mean) We then hit the movies with and without subs. To be honest it didn't make a lick of difference watching movies as to which amp had the front's hooked up to. The led's on the xpa-2 in movies really didn't move much, even at insane levels that I watch them at. The led's only really move when i switch my fronts to "large" Then when I crank them up I can give them a close to 3/4 shot up the meters at almost a steady pace. (when playing very loud music) I was going to buy the upa-2 to power my back surrounds but figured I'd buy the xpa-2 instead since I'd regret not getting it if I didn't. Now I can buy pretty much whatever speaker I want in the future and be set!. All in all, I am pretty happy with the purchase but I won't know the full capabilities of these amps until I get the XMC-1.

When I changed my XPA-2 to my XPA-3 for two channel listening just to see if I could hear a difference I notice the imaging you are talking about but I also noticed a lot more detail and bass response in the XPA-2. Especially with more complex music like jazz or fusion.
Diana Krall Live in Paris sounds good with the XPA-3 pushing the fronts but with the XPA-2 it was taken to another level, especially at lower volumes...it just seemed more there to me.
With hard rock the XPA-2 seemed to deliver more punch and seemed to be a bit more in your face.
I don't really use movies to judge my system...it sounds awesome with movies but music is my main thing.
Just my 2 cents and I am glad you like your amps.....and thanks for the review.
My XPA-1's are being delivered today ;D ;D ;D

I'm certain my receiver is holding me back, using it as my pre, so I REALLY want the xmc-1 so I can see what these can really do with a great source.
Those xpa-1's are gonna be sweet!.
