Hello!
Can some one give me a STAFF APPROVAL to this forum, please? Now I logged in as guest!
It approaches the purchase of Emotiva soon ... BUT ... First i have KlipschRF82MKII speakers. The idea was to buy two pieces XPA-1! Should I go for an XPR-2 instead of?

With those speakers I think I would buy two XPA-1Ls. You'll get the benefit of Class A operation and you won't be paying for power that you'll never use. The XPR-2 is overkill for those speakers...

DeltaDube offered: >> 799 xpa 1 - 629 xpa 1L 170 more right now with the new lower price... buy 2x the power.. the extra power to me just magically makes your speakers sound so much better.....<<
Here we go again.....
DD, you must remember that his speakers are very high efficiency units - SENSITIVITY: 98dB @ 2.83V / 1m. This means that they will kick out 98 db with only a single watt. The XPA-1L puts out 250 watts into 8 ohms. The "regular" XPA-1 puts out 500 watts into 8 ohms. This means that there is only a 3 db difference between the two amps. Trust me, the XPA-1L will absolutely blow him out of the room and NEVER break a sweat.
Plus the XPA-1L gives him the advantage of Class A operation for the 1st 35 watts. Soooo, let's look at the figures:
1 watt = 98 db (This is LOUD) 2 watts = 101 db 4 watts = 104 db 8 watts = 107 db 16 watts = 110 db (This is VERY loud) 32 watts = 113 db (Still using the Class A operating mode of the XPA-1L) 64 watts = 116 db (The cops are pounding on your door, guns drawn) 128 watts = 119 db (The cops shoot you because you couldn't hear them telling you to TURN IT DOWN!) 256 watts = 122 db (This is just below the threshold of pain. Your ears will be bleeding profusely as you die from the gunshot wounds. The cops have left, and will be acquitted of the charges.) 512 watts = 125 db (Your body is vibrating in time with the music...Even God is begging you to TURN IT DOWN!!)
He could run the amp steady-state at 110 db and still have 15 of headroom!! Trust me, the XPA-1L is all he needs and then some. There is NO sense in paying the extra $340 for a pair of XPA-1s - he will NEVER use the extra wattage that the XPA-1 provides. NEVER...

Seeing that XPA-1L is a Class A amp, it's wealth also fit RF7MKII when the time comes. Thanks for the great advice and tips. any reason why XPA-1L is not on the Emotiva home page?
two thumbs up! thanks

I agree with xpa1l. But you may gain more by changing speakers and going with a upa 200 instead Hope that doesn't offend.

Yes, I think you made the right decision on selecting the XPA-1L for your existing speakers. I think one should aim for 110 db at the listening position - not that you will listen at that level, but that will give you sufficient headroom for the max dynamic range you are likely to encounter on the best of source material. RWL's table is o.k., but you should allow for -6db per doubling of distance (i.e. -6db at 2 meters, -12 db at 4 meters, etc.). That means that 64 watts will get you 104db at a 4 meter listening position (good enough). This will probably still allow the XPA-1L to remain in Class A since it is temperature switched.
