Hey Guys,
My name is Tim and I am an audioholic, and no I do not need an intervention. I have recently been reacquainted with home audio after a 30+ year hiatus. I bought my first system the summer of 1976. On my way back to college I stopped at our local audio store , which is no longer in business, to pick up my gear... Harman/Kardon receiver, a BIC turntable, and a pair of the original Advent speakers. Over the course of a few years I managed to add a Nakamichi tape and a B&O turntable. The audio system today consists of a Marantz SR5005 receiver, Denon network audio player, and Infinity Primus front and center speakers.
In the near future I will make the move to separates. I've heard a lot of good things about Emotiva for the past couple years, which I will replace the receiver with. In the meantime I', looking forward to gaining knowledge about the equipment and the company, so I will be ready when the time comes. In the meantime I hope I can add some small tidbit of information that would help new users, but I am here for the fun.
See you oin the board!!

Welcome Tim. We hope that you will find all that you are looking for in the Lounge. Emotiva will only inspire you to spend your money and put you in the poor house. ...but, what a way to go! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

Welcome 4play. I made the switch to Emo separates about 3 years ago and couldn't be happier. Start with an Emotiva amp and you'll be hooked.

Hey Tim,
Welcome to the Lounge! Noticed you're from West Virginia which is where I grew up and graduated high school before moving to Florida. Just curious what part you are from, I grew up in St. Albans just to the west of Charleston along the Kanawha River along I-64. Anyhow make yourself at home and join in on the discussions and feel free to ask questions. Dan Laufman, ie: Big Dan, has built a tight nit group of followers and we're glad to have you join us.

Howdy neighbor! I am down next to Emocentral in Tennessee. I had the Primus speakers in my system for 5 years! I would love to know how you like your Denon media player. Would you mind telling me (us) what it does and how you like it? Also, since you are relatively close, you need to know about Emofest where we get together to drool over equipment and have a catered party with live music on the Sunday before Labor day. Check out the sign up link in the thread about Emofest.
What do you like to listen to?
I am mostly a rock guy but I like jazz and acoustic music too. And when the mood hits me, I listen to R&B, Reggae, and even some techno on occasion. Lately I have been listening to a lot of Los Lonely Boys cause my kids love them and do not run from the room when I play them. I mean I like them too, but I would be playing them less often if it were just me. I just finished a three disc set of Barry White that should be lots of fun to listen to as my wife is a big R&B fan.
So feel right at home to chirp up about anything, feel obligated to actually!
Trey

I had an Onkyo Receiver with internet capabilities that would freeze up, no sound but the artist and song would be on the screen as if the song was playing. Whenever it would play, it would pick up where it left off. Then it just quit playing altogether, which is why I have a new standard receiver and the Denon network audio player. You get more than Pandora, Rhapsody, and others. You can play readio stations from around the world and from any state. You can search by genre or location. This type of player is the only way to go if you like radio. Since I got the Denon, I would never go back to a network receiver. Oh, the Denon is hard wired to my router, and will be easier to download firmware updates if/when needed. Hope this helps.
