I would like to ask the general forum for those who purchase CMX-2 if it made any difference or improve their sound system. Thanks!

I'm not sure if it is making any difference in sound quality but I can tell you one thing, the build quality of my CMX6 compared to my Monster Power bar is much better and I'm sure it is much better when it comes down to filtering and protection and makes me feeel all warm and fuzzy on the inside

Not sure about 'hiss', but many here have reported that the CMX-2 removed hum, or other similar noises. And I think the '6' has most of the 2's same attributes. Keep in mind though that the CMX-2, (or 6) is NOT a surge protector and will provide no 'protection'. It can clean up dirty electricity to your components though, and not impede current draw so your amps don't starve... I've got a CMX-2, and the thing is built like a tank!

Hey Norseman, so should I have say my XPA-2 running off the CMX6....? Emotiva recommends that all of their amps be plugged directly into the wall outlet rather than using power conditioners and surge protectors. Emotiva power amps have all the "protection" designed in the unit itself. Using the CMX-2 or CMX-6 is basically the same as plugging into the wall outlet because they do not limit peak current available to whatever is plugged into them.

The CMX-2 is there to deal with instances where people have dac offsets that generate transformer hum.
My house seemed to have this issue and it went away when I added the CMX-2.
Note this isn't a hum coming through the speakers, just a mechanical hum from the transformers themselves.

There are two version of CMX. CMX-2 has both filtering and DC offset but only come with two plug. CMX-6 comes with 6 plug but only noise filtering. How often you find DC offset on a gear?

Hey Norseman, so should I have say my XPA-2 running off the CMX6....? Hey creimes!, just go ahead and plug the amp into the CMX-6, it certainly won't limit current to the amp, and it would clean up most power issues (that you may or may not have?). When I got my CMX-2 I asked an Emo rep., and they said you could even plug your surge protector into the CMX, and then the CMX to the wall. No problems. Looking forward to more pictures & reviews of your new set-up!

I could say have my 7030, ERC-1, TT and XPA2 plugged into the CMX6 and just have the sub and PA 7-150 plugged into the wall

I just got a CMX2 to address a mechanical humming noise in my two XPA 1 amps. The noise is not coming from the speakers, it is just a constant and annoying 46 db hum coming from each amp. The CMX2 made no difference.
My XPA 100s were dead quiet. Not sure what to do to solve this problem.

Over the years I have had numerous instances of transformer hum with various amps from different manufacturers. A very long story indeed but getting to the solution was a recent discovery of how IC's (again from a variety of cable makers) sometimes will be the cause of the hum. It's weird how the very same IC won't cause hum in one config but will do so in another config. So, now that I know what is causing the transformer hum I simply found IC's that don't cause any hum in my Rogue Sphinx Integrated or in my Naim Nait5i Integrated amp. All that is left to do is to try out the CMX-2 to cut out the tube noise and add a new wall outlet, The Perfect Plug. I will be happy to report my findings once all is in place.

Okay, just a quick update. So far the CMX-2 is for the most part delivering on the promise. Virtually all of the hum has now been tamed by the CMX-2 and Oval One paring. I can only hear a very, very, faint hum in my speakers and Sphinx. Basically, in order to detect any remaining hum I have to just about place my ear directly on the woofer and just about press my ear onto the Sphinx for verification. I don't yet have the Perfect Plug in place so maybe that will be the final piece of the solution. As far a IC's go, the IC from Analysis Plus, Oval One, is going to be my go to IC as it's shielded and also solder-less. It just so happens my buddy from MO sent the A+ to me a few months ago so thought I'd try it on the Sphinx and that's where it will remain.
From my audio overflow box, I pulled out the Darwin Silver Digital Coax ( when I originally bought these I bought two) and used them as IC's. These units are shielded and are soldered. When I put the D Coax's on I could detect the hum from speakers and Sphinx from within a foot of being near the units. So, for this paring the shielding was not enough in conjunction with the CMX-2. I still have other IC's to try out from my overflow box and have a couple of loaners on standby that will get their turn.
