Specs look quite similar to me. Now that the prices are as well ($839 for the PA5 vs $809 for the XPA-5, except that it's unavailable now; $899 not on sale), are there any pros/cons specific to either? I have the XPA-5 at home and am quite happy with it. I need another 5 channel amp for another home. Can one tell the difference between these two amps?

I personally think they are virtually identical (and I like the styling better) I would buy with confidence especially with a ten year warranty.

Just recently purchased the Sherbourn. For $40 it seemed like an easy choice to me for a longer warranty.

I noticed that the Sherbourn is listed as 58lbs versus 72.6 for the Emotiva. Could this be a typo?

I don't have any idea - but if you classify amp quality based on weight you'll never experience how good digital amps are. The last one I had was very nice - a Crown XLS1500. Gobs of power - 525wpc into 4oms - and weighs 12 pounds. Andrew listed the XLS series in his top ten amps. I should have kept it but you know 'the grass is greener' - etc, etc.

Hi Ken,
I thought the Emotiva and the Sherbourn shared similar Class Topology?
I understand some of the new digital amps can kind of shift one's paradigm as far as weight/performance although I have yet to experience this for myself. The thought of a several kilowatt amp for subwoofer duty weighing in at 15 pounds is intriguing.
